Wynonna - Flies On The Butter (You Can't Go Home Again)

   ----(capo 1st fret)----

Cadd9 = x32033

INtro - G - Em - C - D - G

(verse 1)
         G Em
Old tin roof, leaves in the gutter,
                 C D
A hole in the screen door as big as your fist,
                    G
And flies on the butter,

(verse 2)
              G
Mamaw baking sugar cookies,
                   Em
We were watching cartoons,
                              C
I Heard her holler from the kitchen,
                    D G - D
Which one of you yougins wants to lick the spoon,

(verse 3)
                           G
Yellow jackets on the watermelon,
                   Em
Honeysuckle in the air,
                        C
Daddy turning on the sprinkler,
                   D G - D
Us kids running through it in our underwear,

(verse 4)
                         G
Old dog napping on the front porch,
       Em
His ear just a-twitching,
                  C
Fell asleep on grandaddy's lap,
         D G
To the sound of his pocket watch ticking,

(chorus)

Cadd9 D G
 Whoa Oh, Whoa oh,
          Cadd9 D G - D
It doesn't seem like it was all that long ago,
Cadd9 D G
 Whoa Oh, Whoa oh,
Em Cadd9 D
You can dream about it every now and then,
        D G - Em - C
But you can't go home again,

(verse 5)
                       G
Me and my best friend Jenny,
                  Em
Set up a backyard camp,
                           C
Stole one of mama's mason jars,
                    D G - D
Poked holes in the lid and made a fire fly lamp,

(verse 6)
                G Em
Me and Billy Monroe sneaking down by the river,
                      C D
And I'm still haunted by the taste of the kiss,
                   G
I was too scared to give him,

(chorus)

Cadd9 D G
 Whoa Oh, Whoa oh,
          Cadd9 D G
It doesn't seem like it was all that long ago,
Cadd9 D G
 Whoa Oh, Whoa oh,
Em Cadd9 D
You can dream about it every now and then,
        D Cadd9
But you can't go home again,

(lead chords - Cadd9 - D - Cadd9 - D)

(verse 7)
                     G
There's a black-top road,
                    Em
A faded yellow centerline,
                C
It can take you back to the place,
        D G - D
But it can't take you back in time,

(chorus)

Cadd9 D G
 Whoa Oh, Whoa oh,
          Cadd9 D G
It doesn't seem like it was all that long ago,
Cadd9 D Bm
 Whoa Oh, Whoa oh,
Em Cadd9 D
You can dream about it every now and then,
        D G
But you can't go home again,

(ending verse )
         G Em
Old tin roof, leaves in the gutter,
                C D
A hole in the screen door big as your fist,
                      C - G
And flies on the butter,

Aw, your welcome Palamin0! Thank YOU for the tab!! It's great!! :)

Thanks for the great tab. Have you heard the acoustic
version of Lee Ann Womack's "Surrender"?
Because of the similarity of the guitar work to this song,
I bet someone of your tabbing caliber wouldn't have any
trouble with it. I would really appreciate you taking a
whack at it.

I'll take a listen to it:)

Hi. I havn't been playing guitar long so I don't know a lot about tabs, but I know the chords for this song, and I just can't tell what the picking is for it. I want to play it and have it sound like the song, not just strumming. Would anyone be willing to tab out the picking for it? DOn't know if that makes any sense or not.. thanks to anyone willing.

Thanks for the chords. But I was wondering, what does Cadd 9 mean?
