Hey everyone and welcome to songwritting basics!
Songwritting is a great and powerfull way of expressing
yourself musicly. Here are some tips I use to help
make songwritting a bit more easier and overall enjoyable!

 1. Pick a theme - A song has got to have a purpose.
 2. Write about what YOU know - Dont try and copy the
latest attempt from your favourite stars. We all hear
songs on new CDs and say "arr geez i wish i wrote that!"
But they al started somewhere too. Songs that are freash
and different are gonna stand out better than a copy of
 the latest nashville hit.
 3. Set yourself up - Write in a place that you wont be
disturbed by the outside world. Block your self out of
common annoyancies (phones, other people) and be relaxed.
Songs flow. You cant cram them.
 4. Storys! - Somtimes I will have the title and not no
how to put the song together. So what I do is write a
story about the song. Add characters and you have something
to work with. Believe me it may sound stupid but it really
 does work!
 5. Work with other musicians - Songs happen alot easier
somtimes when you have another head of ideas to draw from!

They are the 5 tips that have helped me. There are probly
a million more of them... but try to find some of your
own. Songwritting is about creativity, which is about fun,
so most of all have some fun and get to work!!!

 Hope this helps - Jake
