The Old Rugged Cross
Alan Jackson: On Precious Memories CD
Intro: D7-G
G C
On a hill far away, stood an old rugged cross,
D7 G
The emblem of suffering and shame
C
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
D7 C G
For a world of lost sinners was slain.
Chorus
D7 G
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
C G
Till my trophies at last I lay down
C
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
G D7 G
And exchange it some day for a crown.
G C
To the old rugged cross I will ever be true,
D7 G
It's shame and reproach gladly bear
C
Then he'll call me some day to my home far away,
D7 C G
Where his glory forever I'll share.
Repeat Chorus
D7 G
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
C G
Till my trophies at last I lay down
C
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
G D7 G
And exchange it some day for a crown.
C
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
G D7 G
And exchange it some day for a crown.

I'm sure Alan sings this exceptionally well, but I won't be using this site again because it has too much nonsense going on. I'm sure that is all about the almighty dollar, but it is not user friendly, and I can't be bothered. It's not offering much I need anyway. -jvsooter | 2/6/2014 | I agree. I won't be using this site again. -gilduke62 | 3/10/2014 | Guys, some of our members, like kraziekhat - lmofle - Koichi Kondo, spend many many hours answering request for chords and tabs for songs. They do not receive a fee for this, they do it so guys like you can play their fovorite country songs. So show alittle respect, and if you want to put some work on the site, there is a way to get a free membership. But if you still want to use other sites, cool I wish you both luck.
