Mud On The Tires - Brad Paisley
Album: Mud On The Tires
Writers: Brad Paisley/Chris DuBois

Since the intro (which Axe did an excellent job on tabbing)
really only works with a capo I thought I'd post the chords
you'd play if you want to play the whole song with the capo on 2.

*Capo 2*

Intro: C G/B Am7 G F G Gsus-G

C G/B Am7 G
I've got some big news, the bank finally came through
F C G
And I'm holdin' the keys to a brand new Chevrolet
C G/B Am7 G
Have you been outside, it sure is a nice night
F C G
How bout a little test drive, down by the lake

F
There's a place I know about
G
Where the dirt road runs out
C G/B Am7
We can try out the four-wheel drive
C G
Come on now what do you say, girl I can hardly wait
F G C
To get a little mud on the tires

Chorus:
              G
Cause it's a good night
F G
To be out there soakin' up the moonlight
F+ F/E F/D C G
Stake out a little piece of shoreline
C G/B Am7
I've got the perfect place in mind
C
It's in the middle of nowhere
G
Only one way to get there
F G C
You gotta get a little mud on the tires

(repeat intro)

C G/B Am7 G
Moonlight on a duck blind, catfish on a trot line
F C G
Sun sets about nine this time of year
C G/B Am7 G
We can throw a blanket down, crickets singing in the background
F C G
And more stars than you can count on a night this clear

F
I'll tell you what we need to do
G
Is grab a sleepin' bag or two
C G/B Am7
Build us a little campfire
C G
And then with a little luck, we might just get stuck
F G C
Let's get a little mud on the tires

CHORUS

C G
And then with a little luck, we might just get stuck
F G F
Let's get a little mud on the tires

Instrumental: G F G F-F/E-F/D-C G
               C G/B Am7 (x2) F G F F-F/E-F/D-G C

Note-You don't have to play the bass notes on the F's
in the chorus if you are a beginner, it will still sound ok.

WOW!!! Enough of the trot, trout, trot, trout crap!!
-yourgrammasdrum | 11/28/2004
You see geetarplaya, a trotline is a piece of string that is attached to two trees (or fixed objects) and strung across a pond or body of water. Then, multiple hooks are baited and hung from individual leaders that are attached to the line. This is usually left to sit overnight, then inspected for fish in the morning. Troutline? I love it when people think they know everything.

I'm from Canada and fishing here there is no trotlines but it sounds like a mighty fine riggin.' ;)
-spitfire_00_911 | 1/18/2005
Being a West Virginia native like Brad Paisley I have rigged many "trotlines" troutline, that is just funny.
-WVaguitarplayer | 1/30/2005
the origin of the word "Trotline" is actually from a "trout-line." But after decades of people redneckin' the word and using them to catch catfish in muddy water, trotline has become the accepted spelling and pronunciation of the word.
-dwm376s | 2/6/2005
troutline! HA its trotline

-Derek_Cave99 | 2/23/2005
I live in rural Canada and fish all the time and i had never hear trotline untill in this song.. in Canada fishing like that is illegal.
-darlynch | 2/25/2005
Holy crap...let the poor guy up....haven't you kicked him enough....trotline... troutline...is it that big a deal...I've fished trout my whole life...sometimes with nothin more than a stick, string and safety pin....but till now I've never heard of a trotline either. He thought he was helping...I'm sure he didn't mean to offend. Man ya'll should be ashamed..I mean why waste your time trashing that guy, when you could spend it looking in a mirror to see how perfect ya'll must be. Now let's get along or I'll tell Ma!
-theehotrod | 2/28/2005

Who cares!!!
-moveslikesilk | 8/10/2005
He'll probably never read this crap anyway so...
-darnell2 | 9/9/2005
I thought this conversation was funny and just thought I'd throw this in. Hank Jr. mentions a 'trot line' in Country Boy Can Survive and then in Kid Rock's cover of it Kid sings, '...we can skin a buck, we can run trout line...' Just thought I'd mention that geetarplaya wasn't the only person to have confused it.
-Crawley | 10/18/2005
wow you are some crazy sons of b***hes talkin about a trot line that damn geetarplaya that sounds kinda gangsta to me lol ..ah well let em come to Kentucky and i'll take em with me :D see ya'll later ..just so you know im brad paisley's nephew and it is trotline
-brndnhlbrk | 12/24/2005
i agree with evryone else. you really are a dumbass. get out of the house
-ame2769 | 1/26/2006
Boys boys. I'm from Scotland, over the large pond. I also thought it was 'troutline'. Over here a trout line is a line used when fishing for trout, solely for single handed fly fishing. As oppose to a salmon line, which i thicker, heavier and longer........
