(*) im not sure what the chord is where i put this symbol i like to play a G with
an F# bass note, but im not sure that it is the correct chord.

G D C
We were 18, it was prom night.
G D C
We had our first big fight.
G D
She said "Pull this car over".
C D Em D C
I did and then I told her, "I don't know what you are crying for".
C D
I grabbed her hand, as she reached for the door.

          G
She said, I'll walk.
            C
Let go of my hand.
           Am D G *
Right now I'm hurt, and you don't understand.
           Em
So just be quiet.
           A
And later we will talk.
C D
Just leave, don't worry.
  G
I'll walk.

G D C
It was a dark night, a black dress.
G D C
Driver never saw her, around the bend.
G D C D
I never will forget the call, or driving to the hospital
Em D C
when they told me her legs still wouldn't move.
C D
I cried, when I walked into her room.

           G
She said, I'll walk.
                 C G *
Please come and hold my hand.
           Am D G
Right now I'm hurt, and I don't understand.
 G * Em A
Lets just be quiet, and later we can talk.
          C D
Please stay, don't worry.
    G
I'll walk.

  C
I held her hand through everything.
    Em G
The weeks and months of therapy.
C D Em G *
And I held her hand and asked her, to be my bride.
C Em A
She's dreamed from a little girl, to have her daddy bring her down the aisle.
     C D
So from her wheelchair, she looks up at him and smiles.

           G
And says, I'll walk.
        C
Please hold my hand.
 G * Am D G
I know that this will hurt, I know you understand.
G * Em
Please daddy don't cry.
          A
This is already hard.
C D
Let's go, don't worry.
      G
I'll walk.

sounds great and i think you are right with the walk down from the G to the Em with that F#. Good job

But one thing that I thing might be a little off is on the verses:
"i grabbed her hand as she reached for the door" and
"i cried when i walked into her room"
I think that the C's might actually be an Am but I could be wrong. See what you think
