This Flag
Recorded by Chris Janson
Album: Single (2025)
(Non Capo)
(Spoken)
The flag isn't cloth and color
It's a symbol of everything we fought for
Freedom, sacrifice and brotherhood
We served this nation in time of war
Side by side with men and women
Willing to give up everything
So others could live freestyle='font-size:1px;color:#ffffff;'>
The rights the liberties and opportunities we have
Do not come easy and they are not a guarantee
We've buried friends unde that flagRaised it in foreign land
And felt the full weight as we carried it with pride
If we had to do it all over again
We would
Without hesitation
This is why I stand for the flag
I stand for the flag becuase of the warriors who defend it
Who fight not because they hate what's in front of them
But because they love the flag behind them
I'm a US Air Force veteran
I stand for the flag because it breeds frreedom
For all the veterans out here that don't have much
It means a lot for everybody for the safeness of the United States flag
I stand for the flag
Because if it wasn't for that flag
And the people it stands for
I wou;dn't be able to stand at all
Hey this is Johnny Morris of BASS Pro Shops
We all stand because we love America
And we're grateful to and proud of
And love those who defend our freedoms
Including my dad John A.
Who fought in the Battle of the Bulge
That's why we all stand for the flag

(Verse)
It stood (C)proud on TBulge
Flew a-(F)cross the Delaware (C)
It's (F)earned every scar (C)
And still (G)flying everywhere
It's been (C)kicked and it's been cussed
It's been (F)burned out in the (C)street
But it (C)never would give up
'Cause (G)nah, it just can't be beat
(Pre-Chorus)
It's (Am)folded on the mantle
Hanging (F)out there on the porch
It's (C)high in New York City
And (G)on the country store
(Chorus)
It (F)stands for what's (C)right
It (G)stands for the (Am)free
It (F)stands for every (C)small town kid
Who (G)ever had a dream
All the (F)ones who left their (C)homes
And (G)never made it back (Am)
That's (F)why I (G)stand for this (C) Flag / / / |(F) / (C) /
(Verse)
When that (C)anthem gets to playing
You won't (F)find me on my (C)can
I know (C)some people do
Man it (G)really makes me mad
They get to (C)walking on my fighting side
(F)Just like ole (C)Hag
And that's (C)why (C/E)I (G)stand for this (C) Flag
(Chorus)
'Cause it (F)stands for what's (C)right
It (G)stands for the (Am)free
It (F)stands for every small town (C)kid
Who (G)ever had a dream
All the (F)ones who left their (C)homes
And (C)never made it back (Am)
That's (F)why I (G)stand for this (C) Flag / / / |(F) / (C) / |(F) / (C) / |(G) / /
(Break)
So (C)y'all let's take a moment
Bow our (F)heads and pay re-(C)spect
Quit (C)thinking 'bout ourselves
But the (G)ones who served instead
(Chorus)
It (F)stands for what's (C)right
It (G)stands for the (Am)free
It (F)stands for every (C)small town kid
Who (G)ever had a dream
All the (F)ones who left their (C)homes
And (G)never made it back (Am)
That's (F)why I (G)stand for this (Am) Flag
Yeah, that's (F)why I (G)stand for this (C) Flag
