Jesus And Mama
By Confederate Railroad

Capo 2

A
I made a wish upon a star
D
I could have a brand new car
A
Got tired of wishing
     E
So I stole one
A
Seventeen and knew it all
D
My dreams were big but my thoughts were small
A
So many roads somehow I chose
    E
The wrong one

Chorus:
    A D
But Jesus and mama always loved me
A E
Even when the devil took control
A D
Jesus and mama always loved me
       A
This I know

I felt trapped most all my life
Found new kinds of lows and highs
Never been a husband but I had a lot of wives
To hold me
Headstrong, stubborn, couldn't be told
Like a wild horse that couldn't be rode
A rainbow chaser hungry for gold
And still searchin'

Chorus

I wish mom could see me now
And how I've turned it all around
Lately I've been going down
The right road
Life's a picture that you paint
With blues and grays and cans of canvas
Heaven knows I'm not a saint
But I know

Chorus

This is an awesome song for all country lovers. It sounds correct to me. God I love this song.

I think where you have:

"With blues and grays and cans of canvas"

is supposed to be:

"With blues and grays and cans and can'ts"

Cans of canvas just doesn't make sense to me. That is my only criticism. I never knew the first line of the second verse, but now that I see this it makes sense. This is a great song, especially for those who have taken the wrong paths in their lives.
