Pledging My Love
By David Allan Coe
Spoken:
It was in the 1950's and I was in the, uh, Boy's Industrial School in Lancaster, Ohio.
My favorite singer at the time was Johnny Ace. One night I came in, uh, from my work
assignment and the guard told me that Johnny Ace was dead. He'd taken a gun and killed himself.
And on the table, on the table beside him they found, uh, a tape of a song that he had written moments
before he died. I've always wanted to sing that song but I was never able to and I think that
after all these years that I'd like to try to sing it for you Johnny
