Written By: Mickey Newberry
Performed By: Eleven Hundred Springs and Ronny Dawson
Album: Bandwagon, 2004
Submitted by Grant Wiscour

E A E
Everytime it rains Lord I stand at my window
E B
All I do is wring my hands and moan
E
Can you hear the thunder roar
E A E
Can you hear that Lonesome wind blow
E B E
Tell me baby why you been gone so long

Chorus
E A E
Tell me baby why you been gone so long, been gone so long
E B
Tell me baby why you been gone so long
E A
Wolf was scratchin at my door Lordy don’t you hear that
              E
lonesome wind blow
E B E
Tell me baby why you been gone so long

Somebody said that they thought they saw you way down in Reno
With a big ol man from San Antone
They tell me I’m a fool to cry for you but what do they know
Tell me baby why you been gone so long

Chorus

I guess there’s nothing left for me to do but go get stoned
Let the past paint pictures through my head
Might drink a fifth of Thunderbird and try to write a sad song
Tell me baby why you been gone so long.

Damn good Ronny Dawson song tabbed by a mean SOB from Dallas. He misses an "A" chord in this progression. This guys works the door at Adair's and I would not go up and tell him he missed this "A" chord he might kick your a.... Just ask Ft Worth Chuck, he'll tell ya !

I LOVE this song! But it was WRITTEN by Mickey Newbury, not by Ronny Dawson. I've never heard it performed by Eleven Hundred Springs, but you should definitely check out versions by Jerry Lee Lewis and Jessi Colter!!

i do not recall which album it is on but i have heard 1100 springs sing this many a time on the radio, and there is no mistaking an 1100 springs song.
