Elvis - Why me Lord

(verse 1)
 	      E A
Why Me Lord? What did I ever do,
 	  	 E B7
To deserve even one of the pleasures I've known,
             E A E
Tell me Lord what did I ever do to deserve loving you,
        B7 E E7
And the kindness you've shown,

(chorus)
A
Lord help me Jesus I praise Him,
            B7 E E7
So help me Jesus I know what I am,
A E
Now that I know that I needed you so,
         B7 E
Help me Jesus, my soul's in your hands,

(verse 2)
Try me Lord, if you think there's a way I can ever repay
All I've taken from you
Forgive Lord I can show someone else
What I've been through myself
on my way back to you

(chorus)
A
Lord help me Jesus I wasted it so,
             B7 E E7
So help me Jesus I know what I am, Oh yes,
A E
Now that I know that I needed you so,
         B7 E
Help me Jesus my soul's in your hands
B7 A E
Jesus my soul's in your hands

I had no idea Elvis sang this. Well, he
made a great choice when deciding to sing it. Kiris Kristofferson wrote it, so you
know that it's a great song.
Good Job on submitting the chord changes.

Actually, Elvis didn't sing it. During his live performance, Elvis would step aside and let JD Sumter and The a Stamps sing this song by themselves. The low bass voice is JD and the incredible harmonies are the stamps. Just more proof that Elvis was an incredible entertainer and his love for gospel music was above all else.
