D
Tricks, Gimics,
D
One hit wonders that don't stick.
D
Pretty boys actin' tough,
D
boy bands givin up.
Cadd
And if it looks good on TV,
G
it'll look good on a CD.
Cadd
Shape it up, trim it down.
G
Who gives a damn about how it sounds?

Chorus
G D
I don't think Waylon would have done it that way.
G
And if he ways here he'd say:
                   D
"Hoss neither did Hank."
G
I ain't doggin what you're doin'
Em G Cadd
but boys come on lets get real.
     Cadd G D
You still got a lot of boot left to fill.

Verse 2:
You say you're the real deal,
that you play what everybody feels.
You sing about Johnny Cash.
The man in black would have whipped your ass!

Repeat Chorus
I don't think Waylon would have done it that way.
And if he ways here he'd say:
"Hoss neither did Hank."
I ain't doggin what you're doin'
but boys come on lets get real.
You still got a lot of boot left to fill.

Verse 3:
So so long, I'll see you again.
When you're layin in the bar in a bend. Ha.

Repeat Chorus
I don't think Waylon would have done it that way.
And if he ways here he'd say:
"Hoss neither did Hank."
I ain't doggin what you're doin'
But then again, hell yes I am.
I just don't give a damn
Cause you still got a lot of boot left to fill

I guess we all got a lot of boot left to fill

the first line starts out as "Get ups, gimmicks"

He plays it live with a capo somewhere around the 6th fret, or maybe even higher
-bobbyschultz | 3/25/2009

-jocephus | 5/5/2009

yeah, way off. typical Waylon style- c/g/d progression, drop D. finger the 2nd and 3rd alternately on end of verse lines, c/g/Em/d on end of chorus. Most Waylon tribute songs use this format... WAYLON FOREVER
