This is how I play it and I’m almost 100% positive this the right key
and chords that Garth uses.
Don’t be intimidated by the A#dim7, it is easy to play, look
At the chart on the bottom.

Garth Brooks: Friends in Low Places

Intro (pick): A A#dim7 Bm E

1st Verse:
 A A#dim7
Blame it all on my roots, I showed up in boots
    Bm
And ruined your black tie affair
    E E7
The last one to know, the last one to show
           A
I was the last one you thought you'd see there
       A A#dim7
And I saw the surprise and the fear in his eyes
        Bm Dm
When I took his glass of champagne
E E7
I toasted you, said honey we may be through
    E
But you'll never hear me complain

Chorus:
  A
Cuz I got friends in low places
           A Bm
Where the whiskey drowns and the beer chases my blues away
         E
And I'll be OK
     A
Now I'm not big on social graces
                                A7
Think I'll slip on down to the oasis
    Bm E A
So I've got friends in low places

Instrumental: A Bm E A

2nd Verse:
  A A#dim7
Well I guess I was wrong, I just don't belong
     Bm
Then I've been there before
      E E7
Everything's all right, I'll just say goodnight
          A
And I'll show myself to the door
    A A#dim7
Hey I didn't mean to cause a big scene
      Bm Dm
Just give me an hour and then
E E7
I'll be as high as that ivory tower
     E
That you're livin' in

Chorus:
  A
Cuz I got friends in low places
           A Bm
Where the whiskey drowns and the beer chases my blues away
         E
And I'll be OK
     A
Now I'm not big on social graces
                                A7
Think I'll slip on down to the oasis
    Bm E A
So I've got friends in low places

Mysterious 3rd Verse:

A A#dim7
Well I guess I was wrong, I just don't belong
     Bm
Then I've been there before
      E E7
Everything's all right, I'll just say goodnight
          A
And I'll show myself to the door
    A A#dim7
Hey I didn't mean to cause a big scene
      Bm Dm
Just wait ‘til I finish this glass
      E E7
Then sweet little lady I’ll head back to the bar
    E
And you can kiss my ass

Chorus:
  A
Cuz I got friends in low places
           A Bm
Where the whiskey drowns and the beer chases my blues away
         E
And I'll be OK
     A
Now I'm not big on social graces
                                A7
Think I'll slip on down to the oasis
    Bm E A
So I've got friends in low places

Ending: Play chorus until you get sick of the song or pass out

This is the way I learned it. I'm no music
theorist, but I think you got the right
chords but they are located in a different
area of the fret board. For example, in the
intro play the A#dim7 like this;

A#dim7 X1X020

It's the same fingering as a A7/B#, and they
may be the same chord with a different name.
Also, the E7 is on the high side of the fret
board;

E7 XX2434

In the intro, what makes it distinctive is
how it's played, you pick out on 1 note on
the Bm7, & hammer on E7. Here's the intro,
I'll put an "H" on the note to be hammered
on to the previous chord and a "P" to pick.

A X0333X
A#dim7 X2X020
Bm7 X24235
P2
E7 XX2432
H4
Hope that's not too confusing. It sounds
really close to how Garth plays it.

-joshward_16 | 10/7/2005
the chords for the verses are fine played as is. the intro is a bit different:

e--------------------5--------0
B----2-----5------3----------0
G---2-----6-----2---------1-1
D--2-----5-----4---------2---
A-0-----------2---------2----
E-------6--------------0------

for the 6 on E just use your thumb
