NICKAJACK CAVE (Johnny Cash's Redemption)
Jamie O'Hara
Album: Tough All Over

KEY: E

INTRO: E

VERSE:
E
Little white pills and whiskey
E
Honky tonks and smoke
E
One night stands with his country band
E
Had him strung out on the ropes
E A
Well he cried out to Jesus
A E
He said Jesus I think I'm too lost to save
E B7 A E
He already had on foot inside his grave
E B7 A E
As he stepped into the mouth of Nickajack Cave

VERSE:
Everything was darkness
Wasn't no light at all
Just the cold dank air and the pitch black dirt
And he spiders on the walls
Well he laid down beneath a ledge
And curled up there to meet his judgement day
The shivering came upon him wave by wave
Well he could feel the breath of death in Nickajack Cave

REFRAIN:
A
Then high above him shone a light
A
He never would forget
A B7
Then he heard a voice say Johnny Cash
B7
I ain't thru with you yet
B7 E
Get up I ain't thru with you yet
E
I ain't thru with you yet Johnny Cash
E
Get up

VERSE:
Then he crawled out from beneath that ledge
And felt a gentle breeze
Tears and dirt smeared on his face
As peaceful as could be
Well he knelt down upon the ground
Raised his eyes up to the light and prayed
He said Lord I'll be your servant from this day
That's how he became the Man In Black in Nickajack Cave
That's how he became the Man In Black in Nickajack Cave

E
Get up Johnny Cash I ain't thru with you yet
E
Get up

OUTRO: E

*An alternate chord progression you could use when an E chord
is played is: E G A E. These are just single strums on each
chord.

I worked up a version very similar to this; yours is a bit better, though. Great job! And a hell of a song, I might add.

I agree with what you said at the end playing the E - G - A - E in the parts in the verses, makes it sound more like the song. Good job!

yes I was thinking the same thing. I was going to make a comment about it until I scrolled down and say it already. Excellent job.

It sounds good (when playing the E chord) in between measures if you vibrato the the base note G then F#....just food for thought.
