Ok here is how the song is played....Sergio9603's chords are dead on with a
capo but the song isnt played with a capo...you can definately hear the open
high E string. I just transposed his version to no capo...let me know what
you think

INTRO:
-------------0---0--------------0---0--------------0---0--------------0----0-
-----------4---4-----0--------4---4------0-------4---4-----0--------4------4-
---------4---------4--------4---------4--------4---------4--------4--------4-
-----2---------------------------------------------------------------------2-
-2h4-----------------------------------------0-----------------2-----------2-
-------0------------------4------------------------------------------------0-

Verse 1:
     E E/G#
Well hope is an anchor, and love is a ship
  A B
Time is the ocean, and life is a trip
    E E/G#
You don't know where you're goin' till you know where you're at
       A B
And if you can't read the stars, well you better have a map
   C#m B
A compass and a conscience so you don't get lost at sea
    A
Or on some old lonely island where no one wants to be

Repeat Intro one time.

Verse 2:
         E E/G#
From the beginning of creation I think our maker had a plan
    A B
For us to leave these shores and sail beyond the sand
     E E/G#
And let the good light guide us through the waves and the wind
        A B
To the beaches in a world where we have never been
          C#m B
And we'll climb up on the mountain, y'all, we'll let our voices ring
      A
And those who never tried it, they'll be the first to sing

Repeat Intro

Chorus:
E E/G# A B
         Oh my, my
                    E E/G# A B
I'll see you on the other side, if I make it
                  E E/G# A B
And it might be a long hard ride but I'm gonna take it
                          C#m B A
Sometimes it seems that I don’t have a prayer
                        C#m B A
Let the weather take me an—-y--where
                 G E E/G#
But I know that I wanna go where the streets are gold ‘cause you'll be there
       A B
    Oh my, my

Verse 3:
Well you don't bring nothin' with you here and you can't take nothin' back
I ain't never seen a hearse with a luggage rack
So I've torn my knees up prayin', scarred my back from fallin' down
Spent so much time flyin' high till I'm face first in the ground
So if you're up there watchin' me, would you talk to God and say
Tell Him I might need a hand to see you both some day...

Chorus 2
Oh my, my
So I'll see you on the other side, if I make it
And it might be a long hard ride ,but I wanna take it
Sometimes it seems that I don't have a prayer,
Let the weather take me anywhere,
But I know that I wanna go where the streets are gold, 'cause you'll be there
Oh my, my

'Cause you'll be there
Oh my, my

Verse 3 and chorus 2 are same as 1
Outro: C#m - B - A - E/G# - A - E/G# - G - E

-burriss89 | 5/30/2005
No offense but that intro sounds a little off. Its close but somethings missing and I'm not experienced enough to figure it out! Excellent tab though, and an excellent song from ole Texas George.

-Michael2255 | 6/17/2005
E/G# - 422100......normal E chord with a G# in the bass
-denalitwinkie2s | 6/17/2005
no, trust me, the intro is not perfect but it is close enough the most people can't tell a difference (as you can see). Good job.
-xdrewx | 7/9/2005
very good intro, although while playing with the song it doesn't quite fit. i'd appreciate it if you could try to retab it. other than that, great job

i have been looking all over for these tabs! they only have had chords with a capo. i dont have a capo yet. lol. just started a month ago on the guitar. its coming prety easy though!
-jroserabow1 | 7/15/2005
now i never claimed this was the correct intro for the song..... its close enough that if you play it live most people wont tell a difference.......now playing it to recorded version it isnt going to be perfect.
-denalitwinkie2s | 7/15/2005
not bad son. I see that some people don't agree with your version, though. I'll see if I can find any problems and try to fix them.
-HaydenH | 7/19/2005
horrible just horrible ...
-jayman123 | 7/31/2005
tab the damn thing yourself then....its been rated a 10 so it cant be horrible....maybe the only thing horrible is the way you play guitar. we tab these songs to help you..not to get told its horrible..when you learn to play come back and let me know if its still horrible

-denalitwinkie2s | 8/1/2005
intro is definately off...play it, then play the song right after...needs some changes...otherwise good job...cheers

denalitwinkie-
Hey your work looks great but I actually figured out the other day this is played with one of those short stack capos with both the low and high E strings open.

From this position, this is how you get the intro right; the opening D is played with just two fingers on the B and G strings; I'm not sure how to write it as a tab, but that little interlude is high E-B-high E-G. If any of y'all can follow that, it should come out sounding right. Great work though!
