By The Time I get to Phoenix
Glen Travis Campbell
There is alot of ways to play this song. Even Glen played this thing to suit
his mood and audience. Below is my offering, run through riff station ( of
course riff station is off sometimes so you have to tweek it ) further below
will be my interpretation which I feel gives the song a little more warmth.
I don't care for capos unless I'm trying for an octave above accompany rhythm.
Transpose as much as you like. But sometimes you loose a certain sound
quality trying to play G C D F E. Glen really used the sharps & flats alot
because he he originally wanted to play jazz but knew that he couldn't make a
living at it. Have fun with it, and remember, there won't be anymore
Glen Travis Campbells coming along, we've lost a very special and
great talent.
Intro: F Gm F Bb
Gm F Gm
By the time I get to Phoenix, she'll be rising. She'll find the note I left

hanging on her door. She'll laugh, when she reads the part, that says I'm
Am Gm D# C
leaving, cause I've left that girl so many times before.
Gm F Gm
By the time I make Albuquerque, she'll be working. She'll probably stop at
F Bb C Am dm
lunch and give me a call. But she'll just hear that phone keep on ringing
Gm D# C Gm F
off the wall, thats all. By the time I make Oklahoma, she'll be sleeping.
Gm F Bb C
She'll turn softly and call my name out low. And she'll cry, just to think,
Am Dm Gm C F Bb
I'd really leave her. Though time and time I've tried to tell her so.
Gm A7 D C D C D
She just didn't know, I would really go.
