I gotta’ (D) Dia-(G)- mond (D) Ring
In the (G) top drawer of my (D) dresser
(D) Gave it to my love one time
I (G) bought it to im-(A)-press her
She (G) wore it around for a (A) little while
Now (D) she don’t wear it no (G) more
She (D) gave back my diamond ring 
That I (A) keep in my dresser (D) drawer

I gotta’  trustin’ heart
I wear out on my sleeve
It’s gotta’ a knack of trusting lies 
And wanting to believe
It’s got me in so much trouble
So many times before
I put next to my diamond ring 
That I keep in my dresser Drawer

I gotta’ Colt .45
In my dresser drawer
Right next to the trustin’ heart 
And the ring she wears no more
I hold the barrel up to the light 
I love the way it shines
Well I wouldn’t have near the trouble I’ve had
From leavin’ her behind
