Intro
(Em7) - (G) - (D) - (Cadd9)

(Em7)She said she loved me,
(G)All night long,
(D)I couldn't help but let her (Cadd9)string my heart along.
(Em7)I knew better,
(G)I still do
(D)But I'm not the first man (Cadd9)who's ever played the fool.

(G)So tell me, (D)Why do I keep holdin' on?
(Em7)Oh why do I, (Cadd9)keep starin' down the barrel of a loaded gun?
(G)Tell me why cant (D) I just let go?
(Cadd9)If somebody knows, then tell me.

(Em7) - (G) - (D) - (Cadd9)

(Em7)I wont point the finger,
(G)But I'll take the blame,
(D)'Cause I saw her comin' from a (Cadd9)million miles away.
(Em7)I should have fought the feelin',
(G)But I gave in,
(D)'Cause those lyin' blue eyes,(Cadd9) kept on pullin' me back in.

(G)So tell me, (D)Why do I keep holdin' on?
(Em7)Oh why do I, (Cadd9)keep starin' down the barrel of a loaded gun?
(G)Tell me why cant (D) I just let go?
(Cadd9)If somebody knows, then tell me.

(Em7-G-D-Cadd9) x2

(G)So tell me, (D)Why do I keep holdin' on?
(Em7)Oh why do I, (Cadd9)keep starin' down the barrel of a loaded gun?
(G)Tell me why cant (D) I just let go?
(Cadd9)If somebody knows, if somebody knows,
(Em7)Then tell me. (G) (D) (Cadd9)

there is no right way to play the song no specific strumming pattern ...if you listen to the song play a couple times you can hear it and make it the way you feel comfortable playin...give it a try and see wat happens

Use a common strumming pattern until you find what works for you.
D D DU UD DUDU is a good basic one and on split bars split it in half after the DU
