D A
Daddy hugs his little man, says son I’ve got to go
    G A
And pulls out of the drive and disappears
        D A
As they walk back in the house the young boy asks his mama
G A
Where does daddy go when he leaves here
D A
Mama tells her little man, Your daddy’s got a job
            G A
And when he goes to work they pay him for his time
         D A
Well the young boy gets to thinking and he heads up to his bedroom
      G A
Comes running back with a quarter and four dimes

Chorus 1:
         G A D
And says mama how much time will this buy me
       G D C A
Is it enough to take me fishing or throw a football in the street
G F# Bm A G
If I’m a little short then how much more does daddy need
   Em A D
To spend some time with me

The young boy tells his mama now I know daddy’s busy
Cause most times when he gets home it’s dark outside
But tell him I’ve got me some pennies saved up from the tooth fairy
And I keep ‘em in my piggy bank and I believe there’s thirty-five

Chorus 2:
And says mama how much time will this buy me
Is it enough to take me campin' in a tent down by the creek
If I’m a little short then how much more does daddy need
To spend some time with me

Chorus 3:
Mama how much time will this buy me
Is it enough for just an afternoon a day or a whole week
If I’m a little short then how much more does daddy need
To spend some time with me

Mama takes her little man sets him on her lap
And starts dialing up some numbers on the phone
She says daddy come home early you don’t have to chase that dollar
Cause your little man has got one here at home

Thank you so much for tabbing this song! i think Jamey Johnson is going to be great!

However, in the chorus, the B should be a Bm. Also the second line in chorus 2 is,
"Is it enough to take me campin' in a tent down by the creek".

Other than that, Great job!!

This is from the same guy everyone is critizing for writting Badonkadonk . He the real deal and cut his teeth on old traditional country songs. "My Homes In Alabama" was the first song he learned .

Badonkadonk is a horrible song but this isn't - I didn't realize he wrote the Trace Adkins song.

This is pretty close. It would be a lot easier if the chords were shown for the additional verses. The final verse for example resolves to a D which is not the normal chord progression for the verse nor the refrain.

The point behind only doing the chords over the 1st verse is to teach you, the tabbee, to listen for changes. I give you a framework with the chords for the 1st verse and chorus - after that, it's normally shampoo, rinse, repeat...my goal is to have people LISTEN for the changes of where they should be. There are a few songs I do chords for all verses but most of the time I don't.

Again great job man! For years now I've been following your tabs, thank you.
