Jason Aldean - Amarillo sky

Intro - D

(verse 1)
D D/C
He gets up before the dawn,
D/B D/Bb D
packs a lunch and a thermos full of coffee,
     D D/C
It's another day in the dusty haze,
     D/B D/Bb D
it's burnin rays are wearin down his body,
G
Diesel's worth the price of gold,
                                   D
it's the cheapest grain he's ever sold,
                      A
but he's still holdin on,

(chorus)
         D A
He just takes the tractor another round,
    Em7 G - D
and pulls the plow across the ground,
      A Em7 - G
And sends up another prayer,
               D A
He says Lord I never complain, I never ask why,
Em7 G - D
PLease don't let my dreams run dry,
  A Em7 G D
UNderneath, underneath this Amarillo Sky,

(verse 2)
That hail storm back in 83'
sure did take a toll on his family,
He stayed strong and carried on,
just like his dad and grand-dad did before him,
On his knees every night he prays,
please let my crops and children grow,
Cause that's all he's ever known,

(chorus)
         D A
He just takes the tractor another round,
    Em7 G - D
and pulls the plow across the ground,
      A Em7 - G
And sends up another prayer,
               D A
He says Lord I never complain, I never ask why,
Em7 G - D
PLease don't let my dreams run dry,
  A Em7 G D A Em7 G
UNderneath, underneath this Amarillo Sk---y-----y---y

(lead - D - A - Em7 - G )

(chorus)
              D A
And he just takes the tractor another round,
Em7 G
another round, another round,
              D A
And he just takes the tractor another round,
Em7 G
another round,
           D A
He says I never complain, I never ask why,
Em7 G - D
PLease don't let my dreams run dry,
  A Em7 G D A Em7 G
UNderneath, underneath this Amarillo Sk---y-----y---y
D - A - Em7 G D
        underneath this Amarillo Sky,

Hey palamin0, great song, great tab. Um, I noticed though that some of the spelling was wrong, I don't know if you care but I'll tell you anyway, You don't have to change it but thermos doesnt have a 'u', tractor doesn't have a 'k', and in the 3rd verse I think its 'prays' instead of praised. :) like I said great job with the chords and stuff, this is just what I noticed. Thanks for your work! Tess

lol....when tabbing a song the hardest and worse part is getting/listening to the lyrics...I just type them out as I'm listening I don't go back and look for spelling or typo's and like I said I don't have liner notes from the cd because I usually have them tab'd out B4 the cd is released to the public....When I get advanced copies from the record companies they don't come with lyric sheets...

verse is similar to she loved me a bit...wow..not a common chord progression, but he manages to have two songs on his cd with it...nice job tabbing all of these songs...i wish i got the advanced copies as well...good job...

Good tab. I tabbed the same song for McBride & the Ride. Your's is right, mine's wrong. The only thing is that the intro is the same as the first part of the verse (D-D/C-D/B-D/Bb).

The writer of this song, John Rich, is a genius. The version he sings on his solo CD is much better than the Jason Aldean version but they are both VERY good. Great Tab!!!
