I'm not totally sure on the notation for the third line of the verse,
but its basically just a walkdown from C to Am, and then playing an Am
with your pinky on the third fret of the low e string. Hopefully that makes sense.
C F C
Pain, my friend, is just your body talkin'
F G C
Tellin' you to slow down for a while
F G C C/B Am Am/G
And take a trip on down beside the water
F G C
And lie beneath warmth of her smile
C F C
Empty pockets don't mean you need money
F G C
It's just another place to put your hands
F G C C/B Am Am/G
And focus on that rock you've been a-kickin'
F G C
One day it's gonna be a grain of sand
F G C
As we hold on to one another
F G C
And trust in faith to catch us if we fall
F G C F
We stand among an endless line of lovers
F G C
Predestined by the one to have it all
C F C
Fear can be the mind's greatest delusion
F G C
A rabbit in the hat still on your head
F G C C/B Am Am/G
Don't try and chase it down too many tunnels
F G C
And wind up with a wolverine instead
F G C
As we hold on to one another
F G C
And trust in faith to catch us if we fall
F G C F
We stand among an endless line of lovers
F G C
Predestined by the one to have it all
C F C
So mind the path, whichever you have chosen
F G C
So many of our steps are not a choice
F G C C/B Am Am/G
And in the end be left with what is taken
F G C
The answer's in the sound of your own voice
F G C
As we hold on to one another
F G C
And trust in faith to catch us if we fall
F G C F
We stand among an endless line of lovers
F G C
Predestined by the one to have it all
