Somewhere Down in Texas
Written By Jason Boland
Artist Jason Boland and the Stragglers
Cd Pearl Snaps
by: Duff Morrow
The song is in the key of E
Verse:
E
When I look south and see the storm clouds roll,
C#m
on their way to old Mexico
A B
I don't want to be alone
The rays of light through my Shiner Bock bottle
make me wanna turn the key and put down the throttle
and get lost down 35
(B A B) then back to verse chords
When I get tied down by the ties that bind
seems like I'm never gonna find the time
to do what I need.
That's to find me a place where I think
talk about love,laugh, and drink.
And there's someone there who cares.
Chorus:
C#m A
Cause no matter how big the storms
C#m B
I know I can find me a place that's warm.
E
The sun is shining somewhere in Texas.Ê
C#m A
I hope it's shining on her
A B E C#m A B
somewhere down in Texas.
In a place that big a man could get lost
never mind the time forget about the cost.
There's more important things.
Shes' somewhere smiling north of San Antone
I've got her number but I stare at the phone.
Cause I still want to believe.
Chorus
C#m A E
To hell with horoscopes and empty dreams
C#m A B
to hell with Valentino in his cut pair of jeans.
A B
Cause I know I can make it there
A B C#m A B E
on a twelve pack and a prayer.
Back to Chorus *2

well its right on with how i play it -Murph316 | 4/25/2005 | It's the same as my tab - no capo in 2 is the same as capo 2, Key of D chords - I just hear higher notes that the open E can't give you.
-lmofle | 4/25/2005 | i saw him live and he played it no capo sp thats how i play it -lurpo | 4/25/2005 | It's cool, man - I just don't want people thinking that open Key of E is different than capo'd key in D. I have said it at least 100 times - what they do LIVE is not necessarily what they do in the studio.
-lmofle | 4/25/2005 | Ya'll are both right, try playing it with the chords fretted power chord style?, the E being on the 7th fret, and C#m played the same as before. And the A, and B chords played Barre style except leave the bottom 2 strings B, e open and strum them, don't know exactly what it is called. that is how i do it, it sounds great solo acoustic.
