I Met Jesus In A Bar
Jim Lauderdale
Album: Country Super Hits, Vol. 1

Chorus

G Am
I met Jesus in a bar
D G
I guess you just can't fall too far
                             Am
I was pourin' whiskey in an empty heart
C G
When I met Jesus in a bar

G Am
Man or angel, son of God he did not tell me who he was, but I knew
D G
In that least expected place I saw heaven in His face and couldn't move
                                                     G7
We sat there for hours, I could feel His grace and power
        C Am
And I said things I'd never told a soul
D G
I asked for forgiveness, he said I've already done this don't you know?

Repeat Chorus

G Am
I met Jesus in a bar
D G
I guess you just can't fall too far
                             Am
I was pourin' whiskey in an empty heart
D C
When I met Jesus in a bar

Insturmental: Am-C-G

G Am
I started cryin' in my hands when I looked up again, He was gone
 D
Then I walked the whole way home for the first time knowin'
            G
I was not alone
                                                    G7
Some meet Him on the highway, some meet him on a Sunday
             C Am
on the back row of the church
D G
I can only tell you my way was in a place where people go to hurt

Repeat Chorus

G Am
I met Jesus in a bar
D G
I guess you just can't fall too far
                             Am
I was pourin' whiskey in an empty heart
D G
When I met Jesus in a bar

                            Am Bm C
I was pourin' whiskey in an empty heart
D G
When I met Jesus in a bar

Great song man. But there are a few things off. First the last G in the chorus should be a C. Second on the third line the chord progression should be G to G7 to C then to Am. Otherwise good job.

Thanks for the comment deereman. I believe the last line of the chorus is played three different ways. In the first chorus, it goes from "Am" to "C" and to "G" on the last word. The second Chorus, after the Am" to "D" the to "C" leading into the Instrumental, straight to "Am". The last Chorus, after the "Am" to "D" to "G". Also I did leave out the G7 and C in the third line of the verse. I will make the changes. Let me know what you think.
