MARGARITAVILLE
Jimmy Buffett
From the CD: Meet Me In Margaritaville
Submitted by: Christopher R
April 23, 2003
(I know this song has been submitted before, but this is easier to read)

Intro

(D) Nibblin' on sponge cake
Watchin' the sun bake
All of those tourists covered with (A) oil (A7)
Strummin' my six-string
On my front porch swing
Smell those shrimp, they're beginnin' to (D) boil (D7)

(G) Wastin' a(A)way again in Margar(D)itaville (D7)
(G) Searching for my (A) lost shaker of (D) salt (D7)
(G) Some people (A) claim that there's a (D) wo(A)man to (G) blame
But I (D) know (A) it's nobody's (D) fault

(D) I don't know the reason
I stayed here all season
Nothin' to show but this brand new ta(A)ttoo (A7)
But it's a real beauty
A Mexican cutie
How it got here I haven't a (D) clue (D7)

(G) Wastin' a(A)way again in Margar(D)itaville (D7)
(G) Searching for my (A) lost shaker of (D) salt (D7)
(G) Some people (A) claim that there's a (D) wo(A)man to (G) blame
But I (D) know
(A) Hell, it could be my (D) fault

Solo

(D) I blew out my flip-flop
Stepped on a pop-top
Cut my heel had to cruise on back (A) home (A7)
But there's booze in the blender
And soon it will render
That frozen concoction that helps me hang (D) on (D7)

(G) Wastin' a(A)way again in Margar(D)itaville (D7)
(G) Searching for my (A) lost shaker of (D) salt (D7)
(G) Some people (A) claim that there's a (D) wo(A)man to (G) blame
But I (D) know
(A) It's my own damend (D) fault

Yes, and (G) Some people (A) claim that there's a (D) wo(A)man to (G) blame
But I (D) know
(A) It's my own damend (D) fault

The only thing that needs to change is the last
2 lines of the chorus and you don't have to play
all of the 7th chords. Great job!!!!!
G) Some people (A) claim that there's a
(D) wo(A)man to (G) blame
But I (A) know it's nobody's (D) fault

This is actually very close to the
sheet music for this song. Instead of the D-D7 change I just play D-Dsus4-D though.
The only suggestion I have is to change:

(G)Some people (A) claim that there's a (D) wo(A)man to (G) blame

to:

(G)Some people (A) claim that there's a (D) wo(D7)man to (G) blame

Not a thing wrong with this one although I
do like to see the intro, solo and ending
listed most like this aren't hard to figure
out.

Great Tab! I would like to make one suggestion though on the Chorus.

G A D A/C#
Some people claim that there's a wo-man to
G/B
blame

A/C# x42220
G/B x2000x

I've changed the chorus from:
G)Some people (A) claim that there's a (D) wo(A)man to (G) blame

to:

(G)Some people (A) claim that there's a (bm) wo(A)man to (G) blame

It seems to sound good with the song

I'm no pro, but I've been playing it this way for 10 years or
more. I think it's close if not exactly correct. Also, we
all hear somethings different, we're here to learn not to
criticize. Great job

Hey great tab. Dead on as far as I can tell. The only suggestion that I would make is that it should be played with the guitar in Drop D tuning. Not necessary at all, but it sounds better. All the chords would be played the same except for for the G which would be 5x0003 in drop D. Also the D chord would utelize all 6 strings giveing it a fuller sound...hence the better sound. Great job though. I think I'll post a tab for the intro just so it'll be here.

Good tab. Has anyone tried (D)Wo(F#m)man to (G) blame. I think that sounds good.
