Brokenheartsville - Joe Nichols
Album: Man With A Memory
Writers: Randy Boudreaux/Clint Daniels/Donny Kees/Blake Mevis

**Capo 3** (how Joe played it on the Opry)

Intro: G B7 Em C G D D(one strum)

G D Em
He wore that cowboy hat to cover up his horns
G D Em
Sweet talking forked tongue, had a tempting charm
C D Em
Before I turned around that girl was gone
C D G
All I can say is bartender pour me something strong

Chorus:
D Em
Here's to the past, they can kiss my glass
   C G
I hope she's happy with him
D Em
Here's to the girl who wrecked my world
     C D
That angel that did me in
G B7
I think the devil drives a Coup de Ville
Em C
I watched him drive away over the hill
       G D
Not against her will and I've got time to kill
C D G
Down in Brokenheartsville

G B7 Em C G D D(one strum)

G D Em
It was long and chrome sittin' in the lot
G D Em
Fire engine red, that thing was hot
C D Em
He reved it up, she waved goodbye
C D G
Love's gone to hell and so have I

CHORUS (twice)

Gr8 job on the chords.
-les paul picker | 12/21/2002
Good Job like always Shantel, the B sounds great as a B7
(D7 without the Capo) since in the intro the lead guitarist
plays the b7th (c in D7) over the chord, (As you've tabbed
out in the Intro)
-heels_fan_1 | 1/11/2003
I agree......gotta put that D7 in there.....
-WildCard76 | 3/2/2003
OMG! Great job on the chords. It sounded b>beautiful/b> on my guitar br>and I'm not a good player so something else must have been right.
-dildude | 3/23/2003
You rock. Nothing more needs said.
-bbarker | 3/26/2003

-tucker73 | 4/11/2003
Anybody want it translated for non-capo?
-nwrpga2b | 4/14/2003
great tab, if someone does have it tabbed/chorded for non-capo that
would be great!
-BuckFu | 4/15/2003
I added at the bottom which chords to play if you want
to play it with no capo.
-Shantel | 4/16/2003

-jeremyyy | 1/5/2004
nice job!! thanx
-bassplayin_fool | 1/17/2004
dude4567, there's no B7 on there. However, a
B7 is x21202.

Great tab Shantel!
-danielcraggs | 2/16/2004
hey whats the strum patern

-druallen84 | 3/10/2004
what strum pattern is used on this song.
-druallen84 | 3/14/2004
Two thumbs up...
-tobyngarth | 4/7/2004
Like everybody else has said, great job, it makes us amateurs sound good !
-FlintRiver Dawg | 4/20/2004
:) Slick job :) Sounds perfect!
-jeffljworth | 5/25/2004
I'm pretty sure that the strum patern is like
an up and down strum at a medium pace with
the song. It's easy to pick up on if you
listen closely to the song. I mean I'm a 16
year girl and could pick up on it just fine!LOL!
-AMatocha | 6/17/2004
it really does need to be changed to a B7.
The B7 will just pretty much make the song
versus the straight B.
-cntyotlw | 6/22/2004
this song kicks ass. i would give it
it a 10 any day. hey does anyone know
who dave stamey is and do you know
any of his songs?
-mbalmerrr | 7/17/2004
The recorded version of the song is in the
key of Bflat. Also, there is a chord that all
of you have been missing-- or incorrectly
transcribing. The tenth chord in the
chorus section(s) of the song (played
under "...Coupe Deville...") is correctly a
D7 chord that resolves the phrase to the
relative minor key of the song, G minor. If
you are to transpose the song to a
different key, simply remember to play a
third chord in the seventh as the tenth
chord of the chorus so to resolve that
section properly; i.e., in the key of "A," the
chord would be C#7.
-slimfancy | 7/17/2004
Great Tab!!! Shantel you from Saskatchewan?
That's where the best tabbers come from...keep it up
-MoparBrown | 8/12/2004
sweet tab! tho it sounds like crap wen i play it not that im a bad
guitarist but i never bothered to learn chords lol its funny everyone
says how great it is and then that 1 dude comes in and say different,
but anyways its GREAT. this song is AMAZING.
-Nikkster | 8/27/2004
slimfancy - If you read the top it clearly states CAPO 3, in which
case these chords ARE in fact in the key of B flat...and the D7
you're talking about is also there, just with a different fingering
(B7 when you've got a capo on 3rd fret). I even have the chords at
the bottom you play with no capo so everything you said is already in
there you just didn't read it.
-Shantel | 8/28/2004
actually you are in the key of "G"
-crkenealy | 9/27/2004
if it were legal to clone,i would have a "mini shantel" yeah baby
-finetune | 10/3/2004
The chord fingering may be in G form but since there is a
capo on 3 it changes the key to Bb. Just ask any studio
musician if you don't believe me ;o)
-Shantel | 10/3/2004
don't argue with the lady
-outlaw2269 | 11/5/2004
good job!!!!!!!!
-fender2005 | 6/5/2005
I play it just like that with one exception>
down in brokenheartsville..... D7 G
just changed that D to D7

and for the dude asking for a strumming pattern
just a simple down, down, up, down, up, down >will do
let the first down accent and hold it a tad longer than the others
-atekjunkie | 8/27/2005
instead of b7, i think it should be Bm. sounds better, but great job on the rest
-lobobsbl | 11/28/2005
i dont see anything wrong with this song why the .05 knock down?
