Back Home Again
by John Denver

tabbed by Matellmon

          E E7 A
THERE'S A STORM ACROSS THE VALLEY, CLOUDS ARE ROLLIN IN
    B7 E
THE AFTERNOON IS HEAVY ON YOUR SHOULDERS
          E E7 A
THERE'S A TRUCK OUT ON THE FOUR LANE, A MILE OR MORE AWAY
    B7 E
THE WHININ OF HIS WHEELS JUST MAKES IT COLDER

        E E7 A
HE'S AN HOUR AWAY FROM RIDIN ON YOUR PRAYERS UP IN THE SKY
    B7 E
AND TEN DAYS ON THE ROAD ARE BARELY GONE
          E E7 A
THERE'S A FIRE SOFTLY BURNING, SUPPER'S ON THE STOVE
    B7 E
BUT IT'S THE LIGHT IN YOUR EYES THAT MAKES HIM WARM

Chorus:
A B7 E E7
HEY, ITS GOOD TO BE BACK HOME AGAIN
A B7 E A
SOMETIMES THIS OLD FARM FEELS LIKE A LONG LOST FRIEND
         B7 E
YES, AND HEY IT'S GOOD TO BE BACK HOME AGAIN

        E E7 A
THERE'S ALL THE NEWS TO TELL HIM, HOWD YOU SPEND YOUR TIME
    B7 E
AND WHAT'S THE LATEST THING THE NEIGHBORS SAY
         E E7 A
AND YOUR MOTHER CALLED LAST FRIDAY, SUNSHINE MADE HER CRY
    B7 E
AND YOU FELT THE BABY MOVE JUST YESTERDAY

Chorus

Bridge:
    A B7 E A
AND OH, THE TIME THAT I CAN LAY THIS TIRED OLD BODY DOWN
    Fm B7 E E7
AND FEEL YOUR FINGERS FEATHER SOFT UPON ME
    A B7 E A
THE KISSES THAT I LIVE FOR, THE LOVE THAT LIGHTS MY WAY
    Fm A B7
THE HAPPINESS THAT LIVIN WITH YOU BRINGS ME

         E E7 A
IT'S THE SWEETEST THING I KNOW OF, JUST SPENDING TIME WITH YOU
     B7 E
IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS THAT MAKE A HOUSE A HOME
       E E7 A
LIKE A FIRE SOFTLY BURNING AND SUPPER ON THE STOVE
    B7 E
AND THE LIGHT IN YOUR EYES THAT MAKES ME WARM

good job bro....little story behind this song,,,,was in foster homes for 7 years and everytime I use to be allowed to see my mom, I would stand with my brother and sister in front of her, when I was 9, and sing this song to her, (cause it was good to be "back home again") I learned to play guitar in the last 3 years and wish now that I could actually play this song for my mom, but never got the chance. I think she hears me though,,,I sing loud enough,,,lol....thanks bro :)

I play it in "D" too because it matches my singing voice better.

Chords are: "D", "D7", "G", "A" and "Em"

My fav Denver song. And it's great for the last song of the evening jam session, especially when everyone is about half lit and feeling melancholy. :)
