To get this sound, you can also capo 1 and play key of F chords or capo 4 ands play key of D chords. -lmofle | 4/29/2004 | About the key of this song, you are right in one sense and wrong in another. On about half of the songs Cash recorded at Sun, Luther Perkins'(Cash's lead guitarist) guitar sounds as though it is tuned somewhere between the key of F and F#. If you play along with this song in the key of F, you will find that the actual recording sounds sharp. If you play it in F#, the recording will sound flat. This holds true for about half of the total SUN recordings, mainly the early, early, SUN recordings. Now, the reason for this is, Perkins was using an Echosonic amplifier with a built-in tape delay unit. As you may know, these units, when activated, would make the resulting sound slighly sharp, which is what caused this tuning alteration. -tyler1501 | 12/1/2005 |
