Title: Break Down Here
released: March 2004
chords by: palamin0 at countrytabs.com

Intro - C

(verse 1)
C Am7
Mile marker 203, gass gauge leanin on the edge of "E",
F C - G
and I'll be dang if the rain ain't pourin down,
C
There's somethin smokin underneath the hood,
       Am7
It's a bangin and a clangin and it can't be good,
F C - G
And it's another fifty miles to the nearest town,

(bridge)
Em7 Am7
Everything I own's in the back in a hefty bag,
Em7 F
I'm outta cigarettes and I'm down to my last drag,

(chorus)
C
I'd sure hate to break down here,
F
Nothing up ahead or in the rear view mirror,
G
out in the middle of nowhere, knowin
F G
I'm in trouble if these wheels stop rollin,
C
So GOD help me keep me movin somehow,
F
Don't let me start wishin I was with him now,
   G E (xx6454) Am (x77555)
I made it this far without cryin a single tear,
 F G C
I'd sure hate to break down here,

(verse 2)
C
Under fifty thousand miles ago,
Am7
Before the bad blood and busted radio,
F C - G
You said I was all you'd ever need,
C
But love is blind and little did I know,
Am7
You were just another dead end road,
F C - G
Paved with pretty lies and broken dreams,

(bridge)
Em7 Am7
Baby leavin you is easier than being gone,
Em7 F (G)
I don't know what I'd do if one more thing goes wrong,

(chorus)
C
I'd sure hate to break down here,
F
Nothing up ahead or in the rear view mirror,
G
out in the middle of nowhere, knowin
F G
I'm in trouble if these wheels stop rollin,
C
So GOD help me keep me movin somehow,
F
Don't let me start wishin I was with him now,
   G E (xx6454) Am (x77555)
I made it this far without cryin a single tear,
 F G Am F - G
I'd sure hate to break down here, oh no,

(chorus)
C
I'd sure hate to break down here,
F
Nothing up ahead or in the rear view mirror,
G
out in the middle of nowhere, knowin
F G
I'm in trouble if these wheels stop rollin,
C
So GOD help me keep me movin somehow,
F
Don't let me start wishin I was with him now,
   G E (xx6454) Am (x77555)
I made it this far without cryin a single tear,
 F G
I'd sure hate to break down,
 F G
It's too late to turn around,
 F G C
I'd sure hate to break down here,
            Csus - C
Mile marker 215,

I believe the correct lyrics are:
Nothing up ahead or in the rear view mirror."
-slashnnuge | 3/29/2004
good tab but needs an Am in the of F on the verses,
Am
With nothing up ahead in the rearview mirror
and
Am
dont let me start wishing i was with him now
-zxxpress | 5/22/2004
sorry bud but that isn't an "Am" it's an "F"....checked and re-checked
-palamin0 | 5/22/2004
i believe it's "im outta cigarettes and im down to my last rag"

sorry bout that its sound cool though...hehe
-liz8908 | 5/26/2004
The CD insert says "down to my last drag"

-AG
-AirborneGeek | 5/28/2004
I'm having a ton of trouble getting the strum down. Could you tell me how to do it? Thanks

-RedneckWoman21 | 5/29/2004
It is in fact "down to my last drag",
considering she's talking about her cigarettes.
What kind of sense does "down to my last rag" make?
But, I'm sure you would've caught that if you'd
think before you speak.
-jennyp839 | 5/31/2004
any body know whos doin the harmonies on the
chorus? it kinda sounds like pat green, any thoughts. oh and by the
way i thought it was "rag" at first, rag being a tampon
referance, but i was so relived i misheard her

-jackdaniels | 5/31/2004
what an awesome singer..... that's all i can say

-LiLMiSsAsH143 | 6/1/2004
Backing vocals on the tune are done by Wes Hightower. He's on most
of the cuts on the album (along with cameos by Vince Gill and Delbert
McClinton). It's a great album with some other really good songs.

-yahoo | 6/1/2004
check on Trace Adkins latest cd...
He actually recorded it before Julie,
His version isn't as good but you may find
the songwriter on his credits...
-palamin0 | 6/3/2004
I'm having trouble strumming with this as well, can anyone help?? Thanks!
-reata80 | 6/4/2004
No as good.......His version is
so much better. This chick is
another Faith Hill (total pop!).
Check out Trace's version. His vocals
are so powerful, and they bring a
a more haunting tone to the song!
-WildCard76 | 6/4/2004
I like Trace...but I'd much rather see Julie
in that outfit Dolly made him wear for the
commercial.

-mystikal1116 | 6/4/2004
Yes I have. Nothing but pop music. It's
amazing what Nashville considers country
music.
-WildCard76 | 6/6/2004
shes hott

-peanut014 | 6/7/2004
i dunno if this is exactly right but this is
how i play it:
downstrum, downstrum, then pick up ur middle finger on the C and downstrum but at the end
of the downstrum hammer it back on, and then fairly quickly upstrum and downstrum, do
another upstrum and down and immediately start over. do this on all the Cs and do the same pattern without the hammer on on the
rest of the chords. hope this helps
-bwbucs23 | 6/14/2004
hey just_yoli, if u know the sharps for the
chords u can play those or if ur a quick
tuner u can tune up a half a step. that's
all i know
-bwbucs23 | 6/14/2004
whoever said julie is "pop" is crazy
her album sounds alot like Texas Country
if you ask me.i think texas country music
is influencing nashville
-cole9 | 6/15/2004
Last rag? That's just funny. Yup them country songs only sing about dead dogs, broken trucks, heart breaking women and TAMPONS. No, no, DRAG. Just like everything else, she's down to the last bit of her last cigarette.

A good Capo is 20 bucks. Cheap ones are 5 bucks.

There's no way she's 'pop'. Don't freak out just cause there's a hot chick singing country.

And Texas country is the best out there ;)
-Chevy204 | 7/9/2004
i think she's awesome she is no martina mcbride but who can match that voice but she sure does get close i like it
-whitdanlaw | 7/11/2004
its not "under fifty miles ago..."

its "hundred fifty miles ago"
-cookies_05 | 7/27/2004
I'd have to say that was a rather distasteful comment. I wasn't aware that the album had the chord breakdown and since I am nearly tone deaf, would have had a hard time trying to learn this piece. To me this site is not merely a monetary subsidy, but an invaluable tool for learning great music.

-Whoop01 | 8/5/2004
Hey, this is an awesome song.
Does anyone know about the rest of her cd?
is it worth buying?
Thanks!!
ps- SHE'S NOT POP!!! hahaha.
-DGibbs | 8/7/2004
ok, you have an Am7 on "hefty bag" and "Being gone". I am 110%! sure that those are Am. i'v listened over and over, and i am positive.
Great tab!
-Guitarguy12388 | 8/9/2004
The album is definitely worth buying. Nothing "pop" to it. It's a very bluesy country. Julie herself is just as country and down to earth as her songs.
-snakebite | 8/10/2004
I think Vince Gill also sings on this song, my friend bought her CD. The whole CD is awesome. Listen to #'s 2, 3, 4, 8, and 10 are my favorites.
-Todd016 | 8/14/2004
i don't have a capo at the moment either but it can be played in the key of D without sounding bad...great tab...definitely not pop

-rcknrdhd05 | 8/17/2004
Hey Y'all, drop the Em7 and make it an E7. Try it you'll like it.
E7 020100
-REIMROCK | 8/25/2004
Julie Roberts is far from Pop.
Wake up Older does not sound pop nor
I just can't get over you.
Compare her music to Shania and Faith
THAT'S POP

-EMRLDEYZS | 11/1/2004
Beautiful woman. Awesome voice. Great song.
-petunia | 11/27/2004
Buy a cap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-gospeljc | 12/11/2004
I'd say she's the hottest chick in the music industry today, that's not slutty like those pop artists. Some might say she's pop, but she doesn't have the slutty image that all of the real pop singers have like britney spears and hoes like that. I think she's a pretty good singer, and I'm very, very critical, and when I say someone is good, they're good. She's better than most of the other singers that are around today, and totally hotter than the other chicks.
This is a really nice song, she sang it on the Grand Ole Opry, the lyrics are cool.
I like the part when she says "I'm outta cigarettes, and I'm down to my last drag." I know what that's like down to your last drag, and being a chronic smoker that really sux(hehe). But great song, great tab. Julie Roberts has a hotty body. mmmm.
-macg1 | 2/1/2005
Nice Tab, still not convinced on the F/Am choice. I tried a bit of both and seemed to work. x03211.
-whitemanrhythm | 5/19/2005
Erika jo of nashville star sings this song the best.
-joshward_16 | 6/14/2005
Julie is a great singer! All her songs are awesome!
P.S. I thought her song wake up older said "stepped in my make-up"
-broncosgirl16 | 8/1/2005
Jason Matthews wrote this song.. co wrote... he is awesome... check out his my space... he sing it on there
-KaceeK | 8/12/2008
I really just don't think Trace captured the essence of the song. This is a song best stripped to the roots, no flamboyant guitars and violins showing off in the background, just the music from the artist's soul. That's one of my biggest problems with this guy, he seems to be so concerned with showing off and being a star, he misses the true essence of all his more personal songs.
