Luckenbach, Texas (Back To the Basics Of Love) - Kenny Chesney & Kid Rock
Album: I’ve Always Been Crazy - A Tribute To Waylon Jennings
Songwriters: Chips Moman/Bobby Emmons

Note: Where it says (opt w/d) there's a walk-down that goes
real fast that is optional to play if you want to --> D-D/C#-Bm-A

                        A
The only two things in life that make it worth livin'
A
Are guitars tuned good, and fine feelin' women
A
I don't need my name in the marquee lights
A
Got a little song we're gonna sing for you tonight so let's go

Chorus 1:
A A7 D
Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas with Waylon and Willie and the boys
         E
This successful life we're livin'
                                         A
Got us feudin' like the Hatfields and McCoys
              A A7
Between them Hank Williams pain songs and Newbury's train songs
     D A - Bm
And blue eyes cryin' in the rain
        E A
Out in Luckenbach, Texas ain't nobody feelin' no pain

    A
So baby let's sell your diamond ring
Bm E A
Buy some boots and faded jeans and go away
      A
This coat and tie is chokin' me
Bm E A
In your high society you cry all day
A7
We've been so busy keepin' up with the Jones
D Bm
Four-car garage and we're still buildin' on
D (opt w/d) A E A
Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love

Chorus 2:
A A7 D
Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas with Waylon and Willie and the boys
         E
This successful life we're livin'
                                         A
Got us feudin' like the Hatfields and McCoys
              A A7
Between them Hank Williams pain songs and Jerry Jeff train songs
     D A - Bm
And blue eyes cryin' in the rain
    E A
Oh Luckenbach, Texas ain't nobody feelin' no pain

Instrumental: A D E A

REPEAT CHORUS 1

             E A
Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas ain't nobody feelin' no pain
A
No pain, no pain....

With all due respect to Kid Rock and Kenny Chesney,
they were not meant to sing this song. The Big Boys
in Nashville struck once again and over-produced a
classic country song. For a good cover be sure to
check out Radney Foster w/ Roger Creager on
the other tribute album.

With all due respect to Mr. Critic, Kenny and Kid are the NEW big
boys of country music, and they covered this song a hell of a lot
better than Sarah Evans and Deana Carter did with Momma, Don't Let
Your Babies... Closed minded people won't ever let country music
develop beyond a D chord.

Perfect tab. Thanks!...........And this
version is right on the money. Original
yet still classic.

This is definately a good cover of a country song. I will be a super
unbiased opinion since I am not tied to just country. I listen to
everything from blues to rap to bluegrass to metal to punk. So I
really am not narrow minded to any genre of music. I have to be this
since I am a music critic for our college paper. On a side note, old
country needs to start making a come back to take over this new
country pop stuff that is being played. Toby Keith is one of the
biggest problems when it comes to this.

I don't know what you have against toby
keith. it is people like shania twain and faith hill that are going pop. we need more
artists that won't go pop with an ass full of fire crackers. But back to the important
stuff awesome tab and keep up the good work

Look here, I like they way they redid this song, BUT Kid Rock aint country and never will be country, your big boys in country is people like George Strait, Alan Jackson, Hank Jr. thats country.
-CHSLion04 | 2/1/2005
With all due respect, I would have to say that you are wrong and that Kid rock is quite the country artist. although his stuff isnt quite country music it has a lot of country influence to it (and im not talking bout his radio stuff, try listening to his newest album... he even does a song with hank jr.) and just because he doesnt prodominantly do country music should not exclude him from being ABLE to do it. I know for die hard country fans its hard to accept the "new kid in town" but give him a chance and i guarantee you'll be impressed. I think its great that artists are diversifying these days and breaking from the trend of doing only what will play on the radio. kenny and kid did a great tribute to this song, and the tab, i must say was great too.

Kid Rock is the s**t! By far the most talented artist there is! If you've ever seen his concert he goes around and plays a solo on every instrument on the stage; the lead guitar, steel guitar, piano, drums, he can do it all. How many other singer/songwriters do that? How many of these new wanna-be's even write there own songs? And to whoever said Toby Keith was pop...WTF?! Somethin wrong with you. Ya'll need to get yourselves checked. Great song. Great tab. Keep up the good work

-ilcs | 3/17/2005
ok, first off...i'm very open to all kinds of music (blues, country, rock, some metal, gospel, bluegrass, etc.). as a musician, one needs to be. this is an awesome cover for this song. kenny chesney and kid rock are both great artists, and to whoever said kid rock isn't country - look at waylon's son, shooter. he doesn't have an extreme country accent and most of his songs are more like classic rock, but he's more "country" than most country artists out there. country music isn't about the accent...it's more about the soul and the bluesy roots of the genre. if you're going to put down any artists in the country music industry, go for the ones that are in it for the fame and money - not for music. to be a good music artist, it takes more than to stand up on stage, hold a guitar in your hand and look good. george strait does all of these and on top of that, he doesn't even write his own songs, but he's still considered a legend.
