Written by Kenny Chesney
Recorded by Kenny Chesney (Feat. Dave Matthews)
(Capo on 1st. fret)
Intro. : D/F#+/ G/Gm/ D/F#+/ G/Gm/
(D)So damn (F#+)easy to (G)say that life's so (Gm)hard
(D)Every-(F#+)body's got their (G)share of battle (Gm)scars
(D)As for me (F#+)I'd like to (G)think my lucky (Gm)stars that
I'm alive, (D) (F#+) and (G)well (Gm)
(D)It'd be (F#+)easy to (G)add up all the (Gm)pain
(D)And all the (F#+)dreams you set and (G)watch go up in (Gm)flames
(D)Dwell on the (F#+)wreckage as it (G)smolders in the (Gm)rain
But not me, (D) (F#+) I'm alive(G) (Gm)
(Bm)And to-(Bb)day you know that's (A)good enough for (E)me
(Bm)Breathing (Bb)in and out is a (A)blessing can't you (E)see
(Bm)Today is the (Bb)first day of the (A)rest of my (E)life
And I'm alive, (D) (F#+) and (G)well (E)
I'm alive, (D) (F#+)and (G)well (Gm)
Inst. : Bm/Bb/ A/E/ Bm/Bb/ A/E/
A/Bb/ Bm/// Bm/A/ A/G/ G/
(D)Stars are (F#+)dancin' on the (G)water here to-(Gm)night
(D)It's good for the s(F#+)oul, and there's not a (G)sole in (Gm)sight
(D)But this motors (F#+)caught it wind and (G)brought me back to (Gm)life
Now I'm alive, (D) (F#+) and (G)well (Gm)
(Bm)And to-(Bb)day you know that's (A)good enough for (E)me
(Bm)Breathing (Bb)in and out is a (A)blessing can't you (E)see
(Bm)Today is the (Bb)first day of the (A)rest of my (E)life
Now I'm alive, (D) (F#+) and (G)well (Gm)
Yeah I'm alive, (D) (F#+) and (G)well (Gm)
Outro. : D/F#+/ G/Gm D/F#+/ G/Gm/ D

anyone know the picking pattern for this song? I'm looking for the actual tab and not just the chords. -ksu-cat | 7/12/2009 | never mind, I figured it out. I'm an idiot. its real simple. pluck the little e, b and d strings together then g,b,e strings individually for each chord. (except on the G chord, I think it sounds better to pluck the big E, b, and little e.) -ksu-cat | 7/12/2009 | I would play it with the Capo on the 6th fret. Finger picking
Just play the three high strings like so or add the bass notes to really get the feeling of the song
A: x0x220 A+5 x4x221 D xx0232 Dm xx0231 -BrianEarlHaines | 9/16/2009 | its close but doesnt quite sound right to me sorry. i just dont here a gm in the song -tjasonbycraft | 10/29/2009 | I received this Member Report from " tootough"
"The chord is not appearing - the small graphic"
Everthing is normal for me. -Ray Terry | 11/6/2009 | im not saying its wrong but kenny had a capo on 7 or 9 at the CMA awards when he performed. good job but its not the same as the real one
-kaatz19 | 11/12/2009 | Try playing a Gm7 35333 instead of Gm relative to capo on first fret. -kaself75 | 11/17/2009 | ok, so i am really frustrated. none of the tabs for this song are even close to correct. watch the video for this on youtube from the CMA's, Kenny Chesney has the Capo on the 9th fret!!! please, some one figure out what he is doing! -WolfeGirl | 11/26/2009 |
