A lovely, quiet, timber spot

That I visit every week

I see the coal-oil light
Through the wax paper windows
And I stay out of sight
Watching him, to and fro

We are aware eachs' come and go
With silent respect for our domain
He with his long gun
I, Bending Tree, with my bow

I am sure he knows 
Of my presence here, high above
I gage his movements as the creek flows
Through this timberland that we both love

I make my way back to my camp
Quietly striding with even dog trot
Leaving him with his flickering lamp
Wondering if I should come back or not....
