This (D) is about Frenchy (E) Dubois,
Who was a (A) growing, lanky (D) boy
On a Christmas tree farm in (E) Illinois
The hero in a (A) novel I wrote with (D) joy-(D-7)

The (G)Story is about his (D) plight,
Being (E) raised by a mean Uncle and looney (A) Aunt
Bruno (D) and Aunt Viney, were always (A) right
Frenchy stayed away from their (D) rant.-(D7)

He (G) took cover in his secret (D) cave,
Hidden (E)  by the weeds and brush on Salt (A) Creek
Put (D)away in a rock-lined (A) safe,
His journal, he wrote in, every (D) week

It is in a (A) box on my (D) shelf
Covered with slips of (E) rejection
Waiting to be discovered, (A) void of (D) myself-(D7)

Stories (G) about how his kin homesteaded this (D) place
Clearing (E) the timber to make crop (A) land
Now, full (D) circle, his dad, replaced corn with (A) trees
Frenchy was growing up, lending a (D) hand (D7)

In (G) a few short years, and he became of (D) age,
The (E) tree farm would be his per his dads (A)will
But until (D) then, Bruno and Viney wrote every (A) page
And Frenchy could only dream of this (D) thrill.
