(F) Sim’s had forty acres of (A) timber
Just a (Bb) quarter mile a (F) way
(F) They harvested it last (A) winter
(Bb) Dad and I were (C) there that (F) day

(F) They were doing the final (A) clearing
(Bb) Stacking slash and grubbin (F) stumps
(F) Saws and axes split the cold, cold (A) air
(Bb) Wagon ruts, skid marks (C)  matted (F) clumps

(F) The day they cleared Sim’s (A) timber
It (Bb) had covered this ground for (F) years
(F) A day that no one was a (A) winner
(Bb) Dad and I choked back the (F) tears

(F) It had been a (A) landmark
(Bb) For farmers and passers-(F) by
(F) A haven for deer and creatures of the (A) dark
(Bb) Enuf to make a grown man (F) cry

(F) The day they cleared Sim’s (A) timber
