G
Busted flat in Baton Rouge, waitin' for a train
D7
When I's feelin' near as faded as my jeans
Bobby thumbed a diesel down just before it rained
G C G
And rode us all the way into New Orleans
G
I pulled my harp out of my dirty red bandana
G7 C
I's playin' soft while Bobby sang the blues
C G
Windshield wipers slappin' time, I was holdin' Bobby's hand in mine
D7
We sang every song that driver knew
Chorus
C G
Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose
D7 G
Nothin', it ain't nothin' honey, if it ain't free
C G
And feelin' good was easy, lord, oh, when he sang the blues
D7
You know feelin' good was good enough for me
G
Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee
G
From the Kentucky coal mines to the California sun
G D7
Yeah Bobby shared the secrets of my soul
Through all kinds of weather, through everything we done
G
Yeah Bobby baby kept me from the cold
One day up near Salinas, lord, I let him slip away
G7 C
He's lookin' for that home and I hope he finds it
G
Well I'd trade all my tomorrows for one single yesterday
D7
To be holdin' Bobby's body next to mine
Chorus

I gave this an 8 rating, because you're on the right track, but the chords are only correct if you have a capo on the 1st fret for the first 1/3 of the song, and then put a capo on the 2nd fret on the rest of it, because it changes key. Since its not logical to switch capos in the middle of a song, you need to put the chords in there. It'd be easiest to play the whole song with a capo on the 2nd fret, and then for the first 1/3, before it switches keys, to play F#m, B and C#
Edit it to make it easier for people to learn from. Good start though. :) -geetar81 | 6/5/2003 | (play G for two beats then switch and play A for two beats) A From the Kentucky Coal mines to that california sun, E7 that Bobby shared the secrets of my soul.
