I personally think this is played out of a standard E. All A's and E's are major.
Leave the top (high pitched) E string open on all D's.

Try doing a pull off of the bottom E string - (3rd fret like a G) before the end
of each major verse or chorus that ends with E. This will give you that step-DOWN
deep tone like "born and raised in the boon (pull off) docks".

Also, before the D's, try a step-UP pull off of the second string (3rd fret) going
into the D. Like this: "I keep my (pull off (second string)) heart and soul in the
boon (pull off (bottom E string)) docks".

Adding these two pull-offs will give you more of a country sound and will help with
the spaces between chords.

E
I feel no shame
E
I'm proud of where I came from
      D A E
I was born and raised in the boondocks
E
One thing I know
E
No matter where I go
          D A E
I keep my heart and soul in the boondocks

(Verse)

          B
And I can feel
     D E
That muddy water running through my veins
          B D E
And I can hear that lullaby of a midnight train
   D A
It sings to me and it sounds familiar

(Repeat Chorus)

          B
And I can taste
     D E
That honeysuckle and it's still so sweet
        B
When it grows wild
D E
On the banks down at old camp creek
             D A
Yeah, and it calls to me like a warm wind blowing

(Repeat Chorus)

(Bridge)

D A-E
It's where I learned about living
D A-E
It's where I learned about love
D A-E
It's where I learned about working hard
    D D A E (Theres a lead guitar playin a riff here that is in E)
And having a little was just e-nough
D A-E
It's where I learned about Jesus
D A-E
And knowing where I stand
D A-E D
You can take it or leave it, this is me
A E
This is who I am

(Solo) E - E - D - A - E

          B
Give me a tin roof
  D E
A front porch and a gravel road
           D
And that's home to me
              A
It feels like home to me

(Repeat Chorus)

          D A E
I keep my heart and soul in the boondocks

Great chords. The only thing I might add is that I think a Bm works best in place of the B.
