Lay Me Down
Written by Mark Marchetti
Recorded by Loretta Lynn with Willie Nelson
Album: Full Circle (2016)

(No Capo)

Intro.: |4/4(A) |2/4(A) |4/4(A) |(A) |
         |4/4(D)(A)|2/4(E) |4/4(A) |(A) |
         |4/4(E) |2/4(F#m) |4/4(D) |(D) |
         |4/4(A)(E)|(D) |(A) |(A)

(Loretta)
I (A)raise my head and (D)set my (A)sail
In the (D)eye of the (A/F#)storm and the (E/B)belly of a (A)whale
My (E)spirit stood on (F#m)solid (D)ground
I'll (A)be at (E)peace when they (D)lay me (A)down

(Willie)
(A)When I was a (D)child I (A)cried
Un-(D)till my (A/F#)knees were (E/B)satisfied (A)
My (E)knees have grown (F#m)pound for (D)pound(?)
I'll (A)be at peace (E) when they (D)lay me (A)down

(Chorus: Willie & Loretta)
(D) When they lay me down someday
My (A)soul will rise and fly away
(E) This old world (F#m) will turn around (D)
I'll (A)be at peace (E) when then (D)lay me (A)down

(Loretta)
(A)This life isn't (D)fair it (A)seems
It's (D)filled with (A/F#)tears and (E/B)broken (A)dreams
There (E)are no tears where (F#m)I am (D)bound
And I'll (A)be at (E)peace when they (D)lay me (A)down

Solo: |4/4(A) |2/4(d) |4/4(A) |(A) |
        |4/4(D)(A/F#)|2/4(E/B) |4/4(A) |(A) |
        |4/4(E) |2/4(F#m) |(D) |(D) |
        |4/4(A)(E)|(D) |(A) |(A) |

Nice to have this. Thanks.

One correction:

In the (D)eye of the (A/F#)storm and the (E/B)belly of a (A)whale

Pretty sure the A/F# should be A/C#

One more:

"needs", not knees:

A D A
When I was a child I cried
D A/C# E/B A
Un-til my needs were satis - fied
E F#m D
My needs have grown up pound for pound
A E D A
I'll be at peace when they lay me down

"Knees" makes more sense than "needs" if you listen closely to the lyrics and message. I hear "knees". :)
