I've worked for the Marshall Tucker Band as a guitar tech since shortly after Toy Caldwell died, this was his favorite song and people always wondered what that line was. its not "to be sad" its "hear me say."
I've heard a million different ways to say it, "he'll be safe" etc. but I asked Toy myself, and his answer was "Hear Me Say". Just to let you know, thanks for the tab

Yeah..and in the live videos you can clearly hear and see Doug sing "hear me say". Also that Bm doesn't seem correct. Sounds like it should be just a walk down from C to C/B or whatever it's called.

To Grevious, you know what, i think you're right ! Instead of Bm, it probably should be a G/B on the walk-down from C. It sounds better too ! ... G/B --- x20003
