After listening to the video on CMT.com, it feels like there should probably be a G chord above the word "dead" so that the chord progression has a final resolution. I believe playing G-Cadd9-G or G-C-G at the end of the phrase sounds acceptable as well. What I find amazing is that even though you can see them playing A,A7,D,D7,A without a capo on the video, the chord changes sound better to me as G,G7,C,C7,G with the capo on 2. I have a feeling that the reason for this is that the traditional type of chord progression for this song would more than likely have been G,G7,C,C7,G with no capo. I know that is how I prefer to play it when I am not playing along with the recording.
