Guitars & Beer

By axehappy - axehappy at countrytabs.com

Haven't got around to recording yet, cos I can't sing...lol
But its a real fast song, and the chords are picked rather than
strummed...kinda like a lead/rhythm hybrid type thing... ;o)
I've added a soundbyte of how the picking will sound for the verse and
chorus, and I've put an intro on too...
I'm hearing the melody as kinda like Working Man's Blues...

***********************************************************************

         A
Well, my life it isn't easy,
        D D7(add9)
It gets harder every day...
A
I ain't got no job,
      E7
But I still got bills to pay.
   A
My girlfriend's gonna leave me,
    D D7(add9)
But man, I just don't care..
         A A
I'm just pickin' here on my guitar,
    E7 A
Cos one day I'll be there....

CHORUS

    D D7(add9) D7sus D
I'm gonna be a country star and play the Opry.
A
Co-write songs with Paisley,

Have a fling with McCready.
        D D7(add9) D7sus D
They'll see my latest video, number 1 on CMT,
   A
My girl is gonna wish,

That she'd had faith in me...
    E7
But until then I'll be sittin' here,
D A
Playin' my guitar and drinkin' beer.

D D7(add9) D7sus D A (x2) E7 D A
INSTRUMENTAL

        A
Now, my girlfriend's packed her bags,
      D D7(add9)
She's walkin' out the door.
      A
She's shouting as she's goin',
    E7
But I don't know what for.
       A
'Cause man, I just ain't listening,
         D D7(add9)
I got my mind set on my song.
           A A
I'm on the second verse, already wrote the first,
        D A
I'll be famous before long.

REPEAT CHORUS

     Dbm
Well now my strings are rusting,
   D E
My hands are getting sore.
    Dbm
I'm running out of beer...
       D E
And my girl ain't here to bring me more!!

  D D7(add9) D7sus D
I wanted to be a country star and play the Opry.
A
Co-write songs with Paisley,

     D D7(add9) D7sus D
I'll never have my music played on CMT,
    A
Now I am startin' to wish,

That my girl had stayed with me...
  E7
I shoulda' done more than just sat here,
D A
Playin' my guitar and drinkin' beer.
  E7
I shoulda' done more than just sat here,
D A
Playin' my guitar and drinkin' beer.

And I sorta hear it as Elvira

Dude, awesome riff. But, uh, could you tab out the vamp from the sound-byte so us mere mortal guitar geeks can work on it? Keep writing! Monte

I love it!!!! It sounds like a song
that I could relate to. "Guitars & Beer"
are two things that I love also. they're
good lyrics. I dream of being on the Opry like that, but I would be mentioning old artists like Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson.

Dave I really like the instrumental but you need to get it together. I think you may have something here. The lyrics are good and also the music. I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed it.
