Ellis Unit One by Steve Earle

Intro

Note on tuning : Tune bass E and A strings down 2 steps to D and G, respectively.

This could also be played in standard tuning with a capo on the bottom 4
strings (DGBe) only, leaving the E and A strings open.

capo 2nd fret : this brings the bass strings back up to E and A which matches with
                matellmon's chord tab.

Notes : Above the tab are lines and numbers that tie notes together to give you an idea of the rythym.
To get it to sound correctly you need to get a good alternating bass going. All the
bass notes ( bottom lines in tab : D G D strings) are played with the thumb. Everything
else can be played with the index finger or a combo of index and middle, whatever is
more comfortable for you. Start slow and build the speed. It sounds easy but its a bit
tougher to play. I have no idea how Steve (or anybody) can play like this and sing!

The '*' above the 6th measure has a 3s2 : 3rd fret slide down to 2nd. This is a quick slide.
The whole 3s2 is done in the & beat.
