Again, bored at work and I remember someone asking about how to play this song.
It's one of my favorite to play live, cuz I get to use my C harmonica. :)

The finger picking is tricky, but once you practice and get used to it after an
hour...it's second nature and you can play a whole new world of guitar tunes.

Remember to capo on the 5th fret, and play in G. When I put the (D7) chord in,
make sure you thumb the bottom string on the second fret (7th cuz it's capo'd).

This finger picking style is also good for Tecumseh Valley and Ft. Worth Blues.

Have fun! - Ken

Goodbye

(G)I remember holdin on to (D7)you
(Em)All them long and (C)lonely nights I (G)put you through
Somewhere in there I'm sure I made you (D7)cry
But I (C)can't remember (D7)if we said good(G)bye

CHORUS

But I re(C)call all of them nights down in (G)Mexico
One place I may (D7)never go in my life (G)again(D7)
Was I (G)just off somewhere just too (D7)high
But I (C)can't remember (D7)if we said good(G)bye

(same as first)
I only miss you here every now and then
Like the soft breeze blowin; up from the Caribbean
Most Novembers I break down and cry
But I can't remember if we said goodbye

CHORUS

Ken,

Don't take this bad, but your postings would be better listed as
chords, not tabs. Instead of just mentioning the picking pattern
you might show an example, since a large portion of the visitors
here are probably beginning guitarists.

And since you are a "professional" player, maybe some sound clips. :)
By the way, where do you play?

I changed it to a chord.

Hey man, great tab (even though I'm a few years late saying so). The D7 kind of messed me up at first till I realized you were talking about a D7/F#. Great job on a great song.

Oh yeah, for anyone who might want to learn to play in this fingerpicking style I recommend picking up a CD by an old bluesman named Mississippi John Hurt. He was one of the very best that ever lived at this style of alternating bass fingerpicking. You'll be glad you did.
