Guitar Town (Drop D tunning for lead) Steve Earle
G
Hey pretty baby are you ready for me
                                       C(riff)A|--3-2-0~
It's your good rockin' daddy down from Tennessee
D
I'm just out of Austin bound for San Antone
         C
With the radio blastin' and the bird dog on

A|---2/3-3-3--2/3-3-3--2/3-3-3--3-2-0-----|
E|------------------------------------4-5-|
G
There's a speed trap up ahead in Selma Town
                         C (riff) A|--3-2-0-
But no local yokel gonna shut me down
D
'Cause me and my boys got this rig unwound
           C G
And we've come a thousand miles from a Guitar Town

SoloA|------2-0---2-5-3~ -----3-2-0-0~ -----------3-2-0
     E|-5-5-----5---------2-5----------0-0~ 1-2-5-------5-4-5~

G
Nothin' ever happened 'round my hometown
                             C (riff) A|--3-2-0~
And I ain't the kind to just hang around
D
But I heard someone callin' my name one day
      C
And I followed that voice down the lost highway

G
Everybody told me you can't get far
                              C	(riff) A|--3-2-0-
On thirty-seven dollars and a jap guitar
D
Now I'm smokin' into Texas with the hammer down
   C G
And a rockin' little combo from the Guitar Town

D
Hey pretty baby don't you know it ain't my fault
   C G
I love to hear the steel belts hummin' on the asphalt
D
Wake up in the middle of the night in a truck stop
C D7 (or D)
Stumble in the restaurant wonderin' why I don't stop

G
Gotta keep rockin' why I still can
                             C (riff) A|--3-2-0~
I gotta two pack habit and a motel tan
D
But when my boots hit the boards I'm a brand new man
C
With my back to the riser I make my stand	(drums stop)

Hey pretty baby won't you hold me tight
                                     C C G D no riff

D
One of these days I'm gonna settle down
C G

~ means to let the note ring

Note: The lead parts in this song are played on a Baritone Guitar. So I dropped
D tuned to get a similiar effect. This should be pretty close. Kudos to the
other submitter, I used a lot of his tab and lowered the Octive to make it sound
closer to the recording. The last bend on the open A string is a "behind the nut
bend" I think. If you listen to it slowed way down there is definitely a bend
there.
