Intro: (Fmaj9) (G) (C/G) (G7) (Am7add4) (Bb6/9)
(C) I met a (Dm7) lady on the (G) plane to Cali(C)fornia
She reminded (Dm7) me so much of (G) you
(C) When she asked what (Dm7) I was doing (G) here
Well then it (Am7add4) hit me
(Bb6/9) The crazy things a (F) dollar (G7) makes us (C) do
I should (Fmaj9) be with you right now
The (G) state that you're (C) in
I should be (Dm7) holding you instead of losing my (G) mind (C/G) (G7)
Just when you (Fmaj9) need me the most
(G) So does the (Am7) coast
But, I (Dm7) swear I'll make it (Gsus4) up to (G) you this (C) time
(Fmaj9) (G) (C/G) (G7) (Am7add4) (Bb6/9)
(C) I pass a (Dm7) family as they (G) hug before de(C)parture
It just re(Dm7)minds me you're a(G)lone
(C) I hold the (Dm7) quarter
That will (G) take my voice back to (Am7add4) you
(Bb6/9) Hear you say I (F) need you (G7) here at (C) home
I should (Fmaj9) be with you right now
The (G) state that you're (C) in
I should be (Dm7) holding you instead of losing my (G) mind (C/G) (G7)
Just when you (Fmaj9) need me the most
(G) So does the (Am7) coast
But, I (Dm7) swear I'll make it (Gsus4) up to (G) you this (C) time
I should (Fmaj9) be with you right now
The (G) state that you're (C) in
I should be (Dm7) holding you instead of losing my (G) mind (C/G) (G7)
Just when you (Fmaj9) need me the most
(G) So does the (Am7) coast
But, I (Dm7) swear I'll make it (Gsus4) up to (G) you
this (C) time (Bb6/9) (Fsus2/A) (G) (C)

This song is played with Drop C Tuning. Try it like this:
The Tuning from 6th string to 1st string it.. C G D G B D. Play the lick from a barred position 6____5_____________________ 5_____5____________________ 4______7___________________ 3_______7__________________ 2________5_________6_(h)_______ 1_________5_________7_(h)______
Hope this helps -jakedl | 12/7/2005 | I learned this tune when it was new, in that Drop-C tuning suggested. Here are the "chords" I use, using the same chord names as shown here, so these open fingerings will fit. I play just a few variations, and do the main riff off the C chord position.
