Christmas is All in the Heart
Steven Curtis Chapman

Capo II

D G D G D G D G
Verse One:
     D G D G
In a one bedroom apartment, on the humble side of town
D G D
Stands a little Christmas tree, looks a lot like Charlie Brown's
    A Asus A D
And underneath is one little gift for him, and one little gift for her
      D G D G
After six months on the new job, they're still barely getting by
          D G D
So in the way of decorations, there's nothing there to catch your eye
    A Asus A
But both of them would be the first to say,
         Em D Asus A
"We're together, we're going to have the merriest Christmas anyway"

Chorus:
       D A Am
'Cause Christmas is all in the heart, that's where the feeling starts
    B Em D
And like a fire inside, it touches every part
             Asus A
Christmas is all in the heart
    D A Am
And even if no white snow falls, that's alright (okay) because
    B Em D
The joy can still be found, wherever you are
                    Asus D G D G
'Cause Christmas is all, all in the heart

Verse Two:
Two little blond-haired boys with big dreams
Tried to sleep but sleep wouldn't come
And we'd be tearing into presents, long before the break of dawn
With mom and dad and cameras making sure, we'd never forget that day
Now I'm the one who's taking pictures in the middle of the night
Of my own blond-headed dreamers who just can't wait until daylight
And in my sleepy eyes a spark still glows
I guess there's just somethings a kid never outgrows

(repeat chorus)

Bridge:
        G D Em D
No it's not in the snow, that may or may not fall
         G D Em F# Bm D
And it's not in the gifts around the tree
            G D Em F# Bm
It's in the love heaven gave the night our savior came
    D G D G
And that same love can still be found wherever you are
       Em F# Bm
'Cause Christmas is all in the heart
        B Em D
And the joy can still be found, wherever you are
                    Asus A D G D
'Cause Christmas is all, all in the heart
         G D G D
It's all in the heart

I believe you might have a typo for the capo on 4th fret. I hear it without the capo but same chords. Great job. Nice to see Jimmy Rankin tabs.

There is no typo regarding the capo on 4. The song was actually recorded in the key of "f sharp." Some of that is obviously because it's within the vocal range of Steven Curtis. Another reason is probably because it's a decent key for orchestra.

To play the riff on guitar, that translates to a capo on 4 and a type of "D" chord. The chord structure depicted here however, is incorrect. Only a handful of the chords have a "standard" structure. Most are inversions of A and D chords. In addition, some of the remaining "standard" chords are played differently due to an alternate tuning. It is also a fingerstyle song that is difficult to fake either with a pick or the "finger and thumb" method. You really need to use the correct fingers. The primary riff has two parts and requires particular attention to the correct base notes.

I am new to this site, and therefore haven't had time to work on a submission. If anyone is interested, I will try to work on it. Given the fact that it's later in the year, this would be a good time to send it out.
