Live Like You Were Dying
Tab by Chris Conner

u>b>Verse 1:/u>/b>
              G Cadd9
He said I was in my early forties with a lot of life before me
      Em D Cadd9
and a moment came that stopped me on a dime
        G Cadd9
I spent most of the next days looking at the x-rays
Em D Cadd9
talking ‘bout the options and talkin’ ‘bout sweet time
E5 E/Eb
I asked him when it sank in if this might really be the real end
         E/D C5
How’s it hit ‘cha when you get that kind of news, man what’cha do?

u>b>Chorus:/u>/b>
      G
I went sky diving
       Cadd9
I went rocky mountain climbing
       Em D Cadd9
I went two point seven seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu
      G B7 Em D Cadd9
And I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter and I gave forgiveness id been denying
                                        D G
and he said some day I hope you get the chance to live like you were dying

u>b>Verse 2:/u>/b>
              G Cadd9
He said I was finally the husband that most the time I wasn’t
      Em D Cadd9
And I became a friend a friend would like to have
    G Cadd9
And all of a sudden going fishin’ wasn’t such an imposition
Em D Cadd9
And I went three times that year I lost my dad

u>b>Bridge:/u>/b>
E5 E/Eb
Well I finally read the Good Book and I took a good long hard look
            E5/D C5
at what I'd do if I could do it all again and then…

u>b>Chorus:/u>/b>
       G
I went sky diving
       Cadd9
I went rocky mountain climbing
       Em D Cadd9
I went two point seven seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu
      G B7 Em D Cadd9
And I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter and I gave forgiveness id been denying

u>b>Bridge:/u>/b>
                                                                     E5
and he said some day I hope you get the chance to live like you were dying
     E/Eb E/D C
Like tomorrow was a gift and you got eternity to think about what you’d do?
with it
               Cm
What could you do with it
             Cdim
What could I do with it
             C
What would I do with it

i>(key change up whole step)/i>

u>b>Chorus:/u>/b>
       A
I went sky diving
       Dadd9
I went rocky mountain climbing
       F#m E Dadd9
I went two point seven seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu
      A C#7 F#m E Dadd9
And I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter and I watched an eagle as it was flying
                                        E A
and he said some day I hope you get the chance to live like you were dying
                      A D
To live like you were dying
                      A D
To live like you were dying
                      A D
To live like you were dying
                      A D
To live like you were dying

-dave_okla | 5/28/2004
Looks like some chords are off alignment, PM me and I can help.
-lmofle | 5/28/2004
I agree. It sounds just about there,
but it needs a little work.
-WildCard76 | 5/28/2004
Sorry about that, I pasted it from word and it changed the chord
alignment. Let me know if anything else should be changed.
-Chris0612 | 5/28/2004
Eb5? Can you show me that chord?
-bnaguitar | 5/28/2004
nice job. i dont want to rate it because it is so new. I think you
could clean it up a bit but sounds good. is there anywhere else to
capo and play the song so some of those e chords wont be so tough for
some guys???
-cntrypicker | 6/1/2004
i dont see the key up for the 3rd chorus???
-cntrypicker | 6/1/2004
If anyone wants a little easier way to play E5/D you could try
xx09xx or xx000x ...doesn't sound exactly the same but it works.

The recording I have the chords are right with no capo, I don't
think you have to capo 1 but maybe there's another key version out
there, who knows.

Great job! I'd give it a 9.75 if I could only cause I'm a little
unsure on that Cm and Cdim near the end. Otherwise it's a 10!
-Shantel | 6/2/2004
Shantel is right. no capo
-bwelch | 6/2/2004
No capo. I am playing along with it, and it's in G.
Also, the Cm and Cdim in the bridge don't seem to be
correct. But, that's just an opinion.

Also, the last chorus is different..

...and I watched an eagle as it was flying.....

instead of: ...gave forgiveness I'd been denyin'...
-WildCard76 | 6/3/2004
Can someone show me B7?

-mac fisher | 6/6/2004
mac - found a great site for chords.. it is
http://chordfind.com -- it has helped me
tremendously -- you can find any chord and
many variations of each chord.

b7 is x21202
-frenchfry | 6/12/2004
Nothing major here, but the bull's name is Blu Man Chu, not Fu
-dirtbike815 | 6/26/2004
nice job!!
-cntrypicker | 6/30/2004
I think it's "Fu", but I'm no expert.

That F#m on the step up doesn't sound right,
or maybe I'm doing it wrong - could someone
show me that chord. Looked in 2 books and seem
to be doing it right, but it doesn't sound like
it fits in.
-ishymac1 | 6/30/2004
Im a pretty big PBR fan and there at one time was a bull named fu
man chu on the tour im not saying thats it but could be.
-texanbythegrace | 7/6/2004
It sounded 100% on to me
Could you cheat and use just a regular D instead of a Dadd9 at the
last part of the song?
-LESLBC24 | 7/8/2004
f#m: 244222
-bchase001 | 7/10/2004
An easy way of doing the E5, E/Eb, E/D
that still sounds pretty good is:
xx2000, xx1000, xx0000.
And I think the bull's name
is "Boo". Thanks for the tab.
-formbo | 7/18/2004
what the heck is C#7?
-dbrown234 | 7/24/2004
I like to use a Em7 in place of the Em. I like the way it sounds
right before the D.
-Smadog25 | 7/25/2004
it's fu man chu, like the mustache...just for another opinion..
...blu man chu makes no sense, and we are all dumber for having read
that....nice job on the tab
-jjonesastros | 8/9/2004
Great tab, good song, but im still looking for a C#7
-dbrown234 | 8/16/2004
This sounds good, but I'm still a beginner
and I'm struggling with the strumming pattern.
Can anyone help me out on that one?
-Superbrie | 8/17/2004
dbrown, I believe C#7 is xx3221. Sounds okay to me.
-sambuca | 8/24/2004
I'm still needing some help to make this
sound better. I have difficulty with
hearing strumming patterns so I'd be very
grateful with any advice out there.
-Superbrie | 8/25/2004
just to clarify it is definately fu-man-chu on the bulls name.
-CoolJZ9 | 8/25/2004

-BlueCrystalMan | 8/28/2004

-willet | 8/29/2004

-hdryderfl | 9/1/2004

-supercow101 | 9/2/2004
Great job bro. Best tab ever of tim mcgraws, thanks a million 4
sharing it wit all of us country fans! thanks
deerslayer325
-racingdei | 9/17/2004
I found if you cut and paste into notepad (instead of Word) it tends
to screw up the chord/lyric alignments less. Peace.
-kenya | 9/18/2004
fumanchu...as in a little bit of facial hair on the chin...almost like a goatee
-morsels23 | 9/29/2004
I cannot even believe we're discussing the name of the bull. IT'S FU MAN CHU. FU!!!! Like the Chinese Warlord who wore a long mustache that grew down his face...like a goatee, but NOT a goatee. FU MAN CHU! And the bull on the PBR Tour was a bad-ass bull that was respected by all riders because of his fury...like the Chinese Warlord (and his bloodline). FU MAN CHU!
-jmerchant | 9/29/2004
like i'm saying!..funny bunch here
-tactical | 9/30/2004
So is it fu man chu, blu man chu, boo man chu, or fred? Just kidding, but that was some funny stuff to read. I wonder if the first guy that disputed that lyric did it just so this would happen? haha Ingenious in your evil plan.
-1moreguitarist | 10/3/2004
when i firstheard the song i thought it
said i love the refer
and i smoked sweeter but i guess i was wrong.
-will069 | 10/4/2004
lol, i cant believe a bull's name could cause so much debate! I guess ppl have nuthin betta to do than read all the comments (like me) so here goes: it is definitely FU MAN CHU!!! Love this song thnx for postin it!
-LiamHendricken | 10/5/2004

-kanderc | 10/9/2004

Second; It is Fu Man Chu
Third: A great site I found for chords is
www.e-tabs.org, click on chord-dictionary and it gives you a couple hundred variations of the basic chords and barre chords and power chords. Also you can print everything out.

GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!
-RockinHranch | 10/11/2004
once and for all it blue man choo. its the name of a bule that he rode and it is also the name of a chewing tabacco. tim was on the radio and said it himself.
-bstoker | 10/20/2004
To save realignment problems..type out the tabs in note pad, use courier font
and 12pt text size. also set your
notepad text size and type to the above settings and you should have less problems.
Great song , I wanna see the bloke who goes 8 secs on Fu man Chu
-buckster | 10/23/2004

-nickrad | 12/19/2004

What is a E5/Eb and a E5/D Chord?

It's a great song,My wife and kids love this one!
-fiddament | 2/21/2005
My bad! I thought it said, " I went 2.7 seconds on a gal named fu man chu!" Didn't even know their were cattle involved!
-LeTisha | 2/24/2005
I've been looking for this song for a couple of weeks. The lyrics and the emotion in this song are magical. Thanks
for the tabs. Tim keep songs that make sense instead of what marketing managers think we want to hear. JoE
-eliasjoseph | 4/14/2005
beautiful song , my inspiration right there
-cruzan_rum | 4/24/2005
Hey y'all. Not a bad interpretation. For those of you looking for strumming pattern, my recomendation is just listen to the song and try to play along with the posted chords. It will improve your skill immensely to try and learn to do these things by ear rather than try to follow a prescribed pattern. YOU CAN DO IT!
-acwa | 7/9/2005
ok tha last word on this bull thin here is the link to Tim's web sight with the ofical lyrics http://www.timmcgraw.com/discog/?view=song&id=102 it is fumanchu
-biggin | 7/16/2005
First off, because this is most important, great job with the tab. Beautiful song. Secondly however, and I'm sorry for joining this great debate which has already been put to rest, but the bulls name is in deed fumanchu. I am a proffesional bull rider and as was my father who just so happens was killed by that same exact bull. Glad to see it's finaly got some regonition. Hell of an animal. God Bless y'all, God Bless America, God Bless Texas!
-RockinCowBoy | 8/12/2005
The chords are right on spot; but the only thing I dont get are the Em minor chords. They just don't make sense to me.

Also, is there a specific way when to strum the chords? Like you shouldn't just strum once when the chord shows right above the word. Can someone tell me please.
-norcalrocks | 10/24/2005
there all right its off a little bit but its al right!
