My Old Friend - Tim McGraw
Album: Live Like You Were Dying
Writers: Craig Wiseman/Steve McEwan

**Capo 4**

Intro: F C F C

        Am Em7
My old friend I recall
     F C Dm G
The times we had hanging on my wall
            Am Em7
I wouldn't trade them for gold
             F C
Cause they laugh and they cry me
      F C
They somehow sanctify me
         F C G
They're woven in the stories I have told

And tell again

        Am Em7
My old friend I apologize
         F C
For the years that have passed since the
Dm G
Last time you and I
       Am Em7
Dusted off those memories
         F C
But the runnin' and the races
     F C
The people and the places
           F C G
There was always somewhere else I had to be
And time gets thin my old friend

            F C
Don't know why, don't know why
            F C
Don't know why, don't know why

Break: F C F

        Am Em7
My old friend this song's for you
         F C
Cause a few simple verses was
     Dm G
The least that I could do
             Am Em7
To tell the world that you were here
           F C
Cause the love and the laughter
      F C
Will live on long after
F C G
All of the sadness and the tears
We'll meet again my old friend

     F C
Goodbye, goodbye
     F C
Goodbye, goodbye
         F C
My old friend, my old friend

Thanks for your work....maybe you could do "Just Be
Your Tear." I would greatly appreciate it...

Does anybody know who played acoustic lead guitar on this song? Or where I could download it?

This is one good song, I think this is one of Tims best songs. I think that EM would work better then EM7. Thanks a bunch

Nailed the basic chord progression, except the Em7 is Em. Also half way through the G, the guitarist places his index finger on the B string on the first fret (relative to capo) and holds for bit, switching back to G. I think that is called a Gmaj7th. Also the Am switches to (Asus?) by removing the index finger. Listen for the changes, because the are subtle. That's my two cents on an already great tab!

What is the strumming pattern for this? I'm still fairly new at guitar but I would enjoy spending valuable time presuming with this song. Thanks in advance
