Tim Rushlow - In The Meantime

 -----(capo 2nd fret)----

Intr0 - G - G/B - C - D = 2x's

(verse 1)
G D G
Jeannie had big plans, a ballerina, Broadway bound,
              D G
And that '87 Honda, was gonna get her out of this town,
                 D G
Caviar for breakfast, a limo waiting every night,
                        D
White chiffon and black tie,
                            Am7
Her name up on the marquee lights,
                             D
Oh, how her star was gonna shine,
Am7 D
Oh, but in the meantime

(chorus)
G G/B
Make the coffee, read the paper,
C D
Late for work, dreams will wait 'til later,
G G/B
Get the bills paid, buy the groceries,
C D
No time to stop and smell the roses,
G G/B
Ain't it funny, ain't it fine,
C Dsus D
How life goes on, in the meantime,

(verse 2)
Bobby had a fast ball, everybody talked about,
He made it to the minors, struck a hundred batters out,
But something in his elbow, gave out in the final game,
He had an operation, never threw quite the same,
Yeah, he'll be back when his arm is fine,
Yeah, but in the meantime,

(chorus)
G G/B
Make the coffee, read the paper,
C D
Late for work, dreams will wait 'til later,
G G/B
Get the bills paid, buy the groceries,
C D
No time to stop and smell the roses,
G G/B
Ain't it funny, ain't it fine,
C Dsus D
How life goes on, in the meantime,

(lead chords - G - G/B - C - D)

(bridge)
Am7 G/B
Now Jeannie takes the girls to dance class Wednesday afternoons,
     C G
And Bobby coaches Little league, Junior will be pitching soon,
Am7 G/B
Sometimes at night they laugh about old meant to be's and might have beens,
   Am7 G/B C D
But 6 o'clock comes early and it's time to start the day again

(chorus)
G G/B
Make the coffee, read the paper,
C D
Late for work, dreams will wait 'til later,
G G/B
Get the bills paid, buy the groceries,
C D
No time to stop and smell the roses,
G G/B
Ain't it funny, ain't it fine,
C Dsus D
How life goes on, in the meantime,
G G/B
Ain't it funny, ain't it fine,
C Dsus D
How life goes on, in the meantime,

And, if they do, I will delete them. I delete comments that are
disparaging and otherwise don't add anything to the tab itself. If it
is just a mean comment, (and they are abound) I delete them. People
who tab work hard enough without some lazy bonehead saying "it should
be a D7, not a D". Now I let this go because I was one who didn't
feel this was country music but it veered off that. The Message Board
is a better place to discuss, at length, things like were being
spoken of. But, I will say this, we don't tolerate intoleration:).
The ages range on this site from 12-65 so we have to take into
account these things when expressing an opinion.
