Trace Adkins - I left something turned on at home

   -----(capo 1st fret)-----

INtro - D - A - E - A

(verse 1)
A

Well boys I hate to leave good company

D A

But my baby just called me on the phone

D A

And from the sound of her voice,

I simply have no choice

        E A

I left something turned on at home

(verse 2)
A

Well I just put a quarter in the jukebox
,
D A

And it ain't halfway through my favorite song
          D A

But if I don't leave right now, my whole place might burn
                E A

Cause I left something turned on at home

(chorus)
   D

It ain't the stove, it ain't the heater

A

She's hotter and a whole lot sweeter

D E

And all day long she's been there alone

D A

Right now her arms are open, the house is probably smokin'

                E A
      D - A - E - A
Cause I left something turned on at home

(verse 3)
       A

Hey waitress could you cancel that order

D A

But if it's too late I'll take it to go

  D A

Boys I gotta run 'fore somebody calls 911

                E A

Cause I left something turned on at home

(chorus)
   D

It ain't the stove, it ain't the heater

A

She's hotter and a whole lot sweeter

D E

And all day long she's been there alone

D A

Right now her arms are open, the house is probably smokin'

                E A

Cause I left something turned on at home

       D A

Right now her arms are open, the house is probably smokin'

                 E A

Cause I left something turned on at home

 E A A A

Yeah I left something turned on at home

I'm just wondering why when people create words/chords that the cords don't line up with where they belong above the words? For example, on the second line the D should be over the word "baby", not "But". I've seen several "different" versions of this song and they're all wrong, as if they were just copy and pasted between different sites. I've also seen many, if not most, songs that were incorrect because of this, and if you try to play them the way they're written you'd see that.

This isn't meant as a flame or bash, but a comment and a suggestion that people try to be more accurate when they write things for others to use.

Regarding lining up the chords over the words, I never pay too much attention to that when I post a set of lyrics and chords. It's because I don't need it and I don't feel an obligation to provide it for everyone. It takes extra time for each of my 2000 youtube recordings and I figure if I provide the words and the chords, you have as much as I'm going to give you. I mean no disrespect. I suppose for a beginner, knowing exactly where to change chords would be a help.
