This song is off his album "Honky-Tonk History"
Awesome song and CD
And all the G notes after the A notes can either be G
or E (I'm not really sure) you can also alternate the chords

(Verse 1)
    E G
Ol' Clarence was a corn-fed Sunday School teacher at the
A G
Cheap hill church of Christ
  E G
A god-fearin', fence-clearin', hay-slingin', hymn-singin'
A G
Back breaker all o' his life
        E
Came in early one night
          G
found his pretty wife
       A G
in the arms of another man
      E G A G
There hell to pay when a good ol' boy goes bad

(Verse 2, same chords)

In a smoke-filled late night club by the river
sat a stranger dealin' five card stud
He was a big-talkin' fast-walkin' fly by nighter
There to take their money and run
They caught the fella' cheatin' so they set him up a meetin'
With his maker in the promise land
Nobody sees a thing when a good ol' boy goes bad

(Chorus)
         E G
The good book goes out the window
         A G
When the gloves go to the floor
    E G
His give a damn to be a righteous man
      A G
Don't give a damn no more
E G
Under that blue collar
     A G
is a big ol' long red path
     E G
That hides the truth but it bleeds through
       A E
When a good ol' boy goes bad

(Verse 3)

Now old man Taylor was a fourth generation
Crop growin' son of a gun
One dry summer Uncle Sam come a runnin'
Wantin' money but there wasn't none
He put a crop in the holler, when night came he watered
by fall he had the cold, hard cash
When times get hard sometimes a good ol' boy goes bad

(Repeat chorus 2x)
   E G
It hides the truth but it bleeds through
       A E
When a good ol' boy goes bad

Thanks for this. It's a good start but not quite right. I requested this song as I was having a couple of problems, but your work has really helped thanks.

Firstly, the first verse is just e,g,a,e except for last line which is e,g,e.

The other verses go e,g,a,e then e,g,a,b then e,g,a,e again and the last line e,g,e

In the chorus, I think the second g is an e and the the fourth g is a b, but the sixth g IS a g and that was causing me problems.

This is just my take on it so more comments always welcome.

Well, I guess I forgot about the B chord
That's also why I put that thing before the song. Where it says that the chord can either be G or E or you can alternate
