WABASH CANNONBALL

WORDS AND MUSIC BY: A. P. CARTER

INTRO: D7
G G7 Am
FROM OUT THE WIDE PACIFIC TO THE BROAD ALANTIC SHORE
      D7 G
SHE CLIMBS THE HIGH MOUNTAINS UP THE HILLS AND BY THE SHORE

ALTHOUGH SHE'S TALL AND HANDSOME BY
                G7 Am
AND KNOW QUITE WELL BY ALL ,
D7 G
SHES A REGULAR COMBINATION OF THE WALBASH CANNONBALL

EASTERN STATES ARE DANDIES SO THE WESTERN PEOPLE SAY
WHEN SHE CLIMBED THE OLD ROCK ISLANDS , TOOK ALL HER STYLE WAY
TO THE LAKES OF MINNESOTA WHERE
THE RIPPLING WATER FALLS
NO CHANGES CAN BE TAKE ON THE WALBASH CANNONBALL

DOWN FROM BIRMINGHAM ONE COLD DECEMBER DAY
PULLED INTO THE STATION YOU HEAR ALL THE PEOPLE SAY
THERE'S THE GAL FROM TENNESSEE
SO IS LONG AND SHE IS TALL
SHES COMES FROM BIRMINGHAM ON THE WALBASH CANNONBALL

JUST LISTEN TO THE JUNGLE AND THE RUMBLE AND THE ROAR
AS SHE GUIDES ALONG THE WOODLAND TO THE HILLS AND THE SHORE
HEAR THE MIGHT RUSH OF THE ENGINE
HER THE LONSOME HOBOERS CALL
WHLE SHES TRAVELING THRU THE JUNGLE ONE THE WALBASH CB

HERES TO OLD MAN DADDY CLAXTON MAY HIS NAME FOREVER STAND
MAY IT ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED THROUGHOUT THE LAND
HIS EARTHLY RACE IS OVER
AND THE CURTAINS AROUND HIM FALL
WELL CARRY HIM HOME TO VICTORY ON THE WALBASH CANNONBALL

That Am should be a C
-bad boyz | 12/23/2003
It usually is a C.But,some might use Am.I
use the C chord,myself.
A.P. Carter wrote it? I though it was Roy
Acuff.I'm pretty sure that he recorded the
original recording of it.
