A E D
Tired of my surroundings, need a little time away from home.

A E D
I'm tired of living this narrow road I got the urge to roam.

      A E D
So I packed up my saddle bags I'm heading on down the line.

A E D
Looking back on that little town Lord I'm leaving it far behind.

CHORUS:

                      A E D
Cause I was Crossin' Dixie, thinking that I'll never see her again.

          A E D
Crossin' Dixie, I got my steel horse laid back in the wind.

           A E D
And those fifths of wine and starlit nights, you know I'm sure to miss.

               A E D
How could the best of Old Milwaukee, be any better than this?

STOP
Cause I was Crossin' Dixie

REPEAT INTRO

          A E D
I took a left on that ol' highway, determined to give it my best.

         A E D
With an open mind and a world of time I was headin' west.

                A E D
And when the, Colorado Rockies started coming into view.

              A E D
It was like nothing I'd ever seen, or ever knew.

CHORUS:

                      A E D
Cause I was Crossin' Denver thinking that I've found me a new home.

           A E D
Crossin' Denver, now I realize why I decided to roam.

       A E D
Some people say it's heaven, from the looks I would agree.

         A E D
It took lots of time, for me to find that it's much too high for me.

BRIDGE:

                Bm A
Cause there's something about a southern wind, while it's

   G D
whistlin' through the pines.

          Bm A G
And the mighty arms of the great white oaks been holding me

      D
just fine.

Bm A
There's something about a southern belle that always

 G D
keeps me in line.

       Bm A G
And it all came clear as my horses nearin' that Mason-Dixon

 D
Line.

CHORUS:

                       A E D
Cause I was Crossin' Dixie, I'm coming home. I'm coming home to stay.

          A E D
Crossin' Dixie, I've learned my lesson in the time I've been away.

                 A E D
About Crossin' Dixie.

           A E D
Crossin' Dixie

REPEAT INTRO while singing Crossin' Dixie countless number of times.

This song was written by one of Wayne's good buddies, Jarrod Barrier of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Just so y'all know.
-magnu001 | 7/13/2004
Actually, Jarod is from Scottsboro, Al, not Tuscaloosa. He's also written several other songs that Wayne has recorded.
